He kisses the top of my head as he follows my gaze to the happy bunch in our backyard. “Now all that’s missing is a child of our own.”
“Not really.”
His expression darkens and worry etches his face. “Have you changed your mind about having kids?”
I grin. “Not at all. What I meant was that nothing is missing, because there will be another little McAllister here by Christmas. Navy won’t be the only kid in the family anymore.”
His eyes grow wide. “Are you serious?”
I nod, my hand resting on my stomach. “Yes, I’m pregnant. I found out this morning, but you were already gone, so I couldn’t tell you.”
“This is the best news ever. I love you, Emily,” he says with a tear in his eyes.
“I love you too, Brody.”
He wraps me in his arms, and it’s exactly where I want to be.
