I had the same thought which is why I am so confused. My pulse begins to race, “Please can you swear to me you won’t mention any of this to another soul? I don’t need anyone else treating me like a freak, especially while I work out exactly what’s happening to me.”

“Of course, I won’t. I swear,” he says crossing his heart with his finger to make his point. “And Siriarna, I’m here to help if ever you need a friend to talk to or test your power on.” He winks.

I laugh, “I might just take you up on that.”

“Anytime.”

Rubbing my eyes, the travel lag catching up with me, I yawn. “I have to sleep now, I’m completely wrecked. See you tomorrow.” Standing, I add, “And Braxton, thank you.”

Refreshed from a great night’s rest in my own surroundings, I arrive at the Reading Hub early and find all other mission group members had the same idea.

Roman beckons to me. He has saved a space next to him on the couch. I gladly accept his invitation and slide into the empty space. “Isn’t it great being back on Evolirium a hero?” he says as I fold into the space beside him.

“Yeah, it’s pretty great,” I say, flashing my widest grin.

Successfully fulfilling our fated life purpose is like an addictive drug to semi gods. The magical endorphins released, leaves behind a craving for more. It’s a revolving exhilarating lifecycle. And one built into our DNA by the Fates.

Alexandraya flinches when I take my seat on the other side of Roman, and her eyes narrow to slits when she observes my smile. “It’s a bit tight now you’re here Siriarna. Care to change couches so we can spread out a bit? I’m getting claustrophobic vibes,” she smiles tightly.

Before I have a chance to rise and relocate, High Power Omnisensus enters the chamber and starts his speech, “I am tremendously proud of the outstanding job you all performed during this mission. And your efforts have been noticed by the gods themselves.”

“It has indeed,” calls a distant and approaching voice.

A great flash of golden light envelopes the room and Hermes himself is now standing in front of us, arriving by winged helmet and winged sandals. Twelve shocked and astounded faces suck in a sharp breath of air at the same time. It is extremely rare for a great god to enter the Progression Realm. This is a huge honour.

Hermes continues … “We have been keeping a close eye on the way this group handled the mission. It was a difficult task for your first foray into the Surface World as a servant of the Fates and protector of humanity. You did your Realm and Leaders proud. And in doing so, you have saved hundreds of thousands of lives and stopped catastrophic damages. Your training has served you well.”

One person interrupts the great god’s speech. “Thank you, your Greatness. I oversaw this mission and believe the strong leadership was the reason for our success. In fact, it was I who parted the Earth’s crust, allowing the repair to take place.”

Alexandraya.

Are there no limits to her outspokenness? Besides, she’s wrong, she didn’t part the crust. I want so desperately to set the record straight, but I catch Braxton’s eye and he shakes his head.

Hermes flashes a smile in her direction, “You should be most proud. I will be keeping my eyes on all of you,” he announces; however, his gaze is focussed solely on Alexandraya.

Discussion over, Hermes leaves the chamber and Evolirium in a remarkable disappearing flash of golden light.

Wrapping up the debriefing, High Power Omnisensus says, “What an unexpected and excellent surprise. To have acknowledgement from Hermes is superlative. You may all return to your Propensities,” he beams before dismissing the group.

Alexandraya pushes past me, leaving the chamber without a backward glance, head held high.

She is going to be more insufferable than normal.

“Is she for real?” Braxton whispers in my ear as he passes.

I giggle. I’m really starting to like this guy.

Alexandraya

Hermes’ arrival here on Evolirium is more than I could have hoped for. He is as glorious as the images I had pictured in my dreams, with his strong build and smooth chiselled jawline. So very good looking in his eternal youth. And his arrival by golden winged sandals and helmet—well, that was just plain extraordinary.

Speaking to him directly was every bit as exciting as I had expected. The glint in his eyes when he looked me up and down was exactly what I’d hoped for. Even for a great god, he is not immune to my appearance. And he is perfectly welcome to look.

Goddess Alexandraya.I start imaging our wedding. PerhapsI am a bit ahead of myself, but there is no harm in dreaming. After all, dreams can come true, and I will be doing everything in my well-practiced power to ensure mine do exactly that.
