Page 23 of Saving Scarlet

When I hear the shower, my cock twitches knowing she’s in there stripping down to nothing. Thoughts of her stiff pink nipples make me breathe heavier. I want to lick and worship those beautiful breasts and I haven’t even seen them yet. This woman is doing shit to me that I never thought would happen.

I’ve always been a Daddy. It’s who I am down to my very core. Before Scarlet, I’d been perfectly content with one-night stands. No one had ever made me want more. Not until this little minx came into my life. Maybe it’s because she’s not bending over backwards to please me like so many other women. Or maybe it’s because there’s a vulnerable innocence about her that makes me want to protect her and be the person she leans on. I want to wipe all her sadness away and replace it with happiness and loving memories. And I plan to do all of that. Once she stops fighting this thing between us.

Still feeling a bit mischievous, I knock on the door. “I need to take a shower too. We should probably save water and shower together.”

Scarlet lets out a shriek and yanks the door open a few inches, clutching a towel to her chest. “Are you seriously still out here? Go away!”

Her eyes widen as her gaze roams over my heavily inked chest.

“My eyes are up here, Little girl. You know, if you keep eye fucking me, I’m going to think you’re only interested in me for my body and not my brilliant mind.”

The speed of her head snapping back to look up at me makes me chuckle. I love seeing her so flustered. It’s fucking adorable.

“Oh, good, you’re looking at me now. Can I come shower with you? I could use some help reaching my back.”

Making a show of it, I turn around and flex. Her breathing hitches. When I face her again, I’m pleased with how affected she is. If she looks down, she’ll notice how affected I am too.

It takes her several seconds to get herself together. Her lust filled expression turns into a pure scowl.

“Go away, Killian,” she hisses.

I tap my chin, pretending to think about it. I really have no intention of showering with her. I would if she let me, but she’s not ready for that yet. She doesn’t trust me and she’s still afraid. The last thing I want to do is drive her away by pushing too hard.

“Fine. I guess I’ll go take a shower all by myself. It would be much more environmentally friendly if you shared the water, though. You should think about it for next time.”

She rolls her eyes, but I don’t miss the smile tugging at her lips. I wink and tap my finger on the tip of her nose.

“Enjoy your shower, baby. I’ll have breakfast ready for you when you get out.”

Her mouth falls open as I turn to walk away. I wonder if she’s surprised that I gave up so easily but I’m pretty sure a smidge of disappointment flashes in her eyes. Was she hoping I’d push harder? These are things I need to learn about my girl. That’ll happen over time. For now, I need to shower and rub one out because she makes my cock ache for release.

“What have we found out?”

Bash and Grady sit on the other side of the desk, cups of coffee in hand.

“Not much. Andrei confirmed the men we killed were part of the Russian mafia. They were good friends of Ivan’s. As of right now, thirty of his men have gone AWOL. Andrei is trying to track them down to put a stop to whatever they’re planning. Basically, whoever finds them first will kill them,” Grady says.

Bash nods. “Alessandro De Luca and Luciano Ricci have ordered their men to search for the Russian traitors as well. They’re personally trying to get information from their people.”

I snort. “Alessandro is still healing from gunshot wounds. He needs to take a goddamn vacation.”

Alessandro De Luca is the head of the Italian mafia and a good friend of Declan’s. They’re one of our allies and we always help each other’s families out when needed. That’s how Alessandro got shot in the first place. He’d been trying to help keep Cali safe while we went in to save Scarlet. The Italians are loyal and, in my opinion, it’s a shame the syndicates have to be separated by bloodlines. The Irish and Italians together would be unstoppable.

“Declan is waiting for a call from you. He specifically said, ‘tell him to call me as soon as he isn’t getting his ass handed to him by Scarlet’,” Bash says with a grin.

Bastard. He had it easy with Cali. The only one fighting their relationship had been him. Cali was all in from the beginning. It’s the other way around for me and Scarlet. I’ll win, though. I always do.

As soon as Bash and Grady leave to check in with the rest of the men, I call Declan.

“Hey, man. How’s it going? Has she stabbed you yet?” Declan asks.

I can’t help but grin. It would be more likely that his wife would stab someone. The woman can be vicious.

“Not yet. Although she felt my gun.”

The line is silent for a moment before Declan speaks again. “Say what?”
