“Jesus, idiot, don’t you know not to ever tell a woman to calm down?” Kieran says, smacking Grady on the arm.

I turn my gaze to Kieran. “You smacked a man who’s been shot. What is wrong with you?”

The men laugh like I told them the funniest joke ever.

“Baby, we’ve all been shot multiple times. It’s barely a flesh wound. He’ll be fine,” Killian says.

“Animals! You’re all a bunch of rabid animals,” I snap.

They all laugh as though what I said is the funniest thing they’ve ever heard. I kind of want to smack all of them.

Cali and I both huff and shake our heads. These men are completely and utterly stubborn and annoying. But I still love them. All of them. Despite their obvious personality issues.

KILLIAN

“How the fuck did they find the safe house?” Declan roars.

After getting the girls settled in the living room, the six of us plus our on-call doctor, Finn, retreated to the study. Grady makes several grunting noises as the doc fishes out the bullet from his wound but other than that, it’s business as usual.

“I don’t know. One of the motion detectors went off. When we investigated, we were ambushed by a dozen guys. Of course, they didn’t do a very good job. None of them made it off the mountain alive. Grady’s the only one who got shot,” Bash says.

Declan nods. “The clean-up crew is already on their way. We’ve had these safe houses for years and we’ve never been found so how the fuck were we found now?”

I run my hand over my beard. “Who all knew our location?”

Everyone turns their attention toward me.

“The only people aware of the locations are our men,” Declan says. “No one else knows.”

Silence fills the room. How the hell did the Russians track us? They could have gotten to my girl. She could have been hurt. I didn’t protect her well enough. Fuck. I promised her I would never let anything happen to her. Shejustdecided to trust me, and I’ve already let her down.

“I can already see you’re blaming yourself. Stop that shit. It’s not your fault and you know it,” Ronan growls.

I shake my head. “She could have gotten hurt. Killed even. I didn’t fucking protect her like I said I would.”

Kieran snorts. “Yeah, because you invited those fuckers up to the mountain. She wasn’t hurt. We didn’t let them get to her. Wewon’tlet them get to either of our girls.”

“I’d die before I let anything happen to them,” I say quietly.

“Any of us would. You know that. None of this bullshit is your fault. It’s not her fault either, and you need to make sure she knows it. I could see the guilt on her face,” Declan says.

I nod. I saw it too, and I plan to make it perfectly clear to her that none of this is on her. Even if I have to redden her ass to get her to forgive herself.

“Do we need to move to another location?” Bash asks.

We all think about it for a long moment before Declan shakes his head. “No. We’ll stay put. We have enough men to protect the women if they track us here. Besides, the girls are shaken up enough. I don’t want them being shuffled around unless it’s necessary.”

“I’m going to go talk to Scarlet,” I say.

Declan nods. “I’ll go with you.”

The women are snuggled up under throw blankets when we walk into the living room. Their eyes widen with worry.

“Is Grady okay?” Scarlet asks.

“Is he going to die?” Cali asks dramatically.
