“This is nice,” she said.
Levi smiled softly.“Thanks, baby.It works for me.Come on.I’ll show you the bedroom and bathroom.You should probably take a shower to get all the smoke off you before you go to bed.”
A shower sounded heavenly, but she wasn’t sure if she could hold herself up for that long.He studied her for a long moment and must have thought the same thing.
“Maybe a bath would be better.Whichever you prefer,” he added.
“A bath would be good.”
He nodded.“You got it, kitten.”
The bedroom was similar to the living room.Small, but tidy and comfortable.The bed was made, and the entire place smelled like him.She could get lost in that scent.
“I’ll run you a bath.”
Before she could protest and tell him she could do it herself, he disappeared into the ensuite bathroom.She followed him and sucked in a breath as her gaze roamed his form.He was kneeling in front of the tub, pouring bubble bath into the water.When he rose, she gulped and craned her head back to look up at him.
“Do you want my help, baby?I promise to be perfectly clinical.No funny business.”
She giggled softly.“I can manage it.”
He reached out and stroked her cheek.“Okay.I’ll be right in the bedroom, so if you need help, just call.”
When he left her alone, she stripped and submerged in the water that was at a perfect temperature.A moan slipped from her lips as she leaned back to soak.
The sound of knocking had her jolting up, causing water to slosh around her.Where was she?What was happening?
“Harper!”
Levi.Crap.She was in Levi’s bathroom.Had she fallen asleep?Panic rose inside her as she looked around, unsure of what to do.Before she could get any words out, the door flew open, and Levi rushed in.
“Oh my God!”she screamed, using her hands to cover her breasts.
His eyes were wild, and his breath was coming in ragged pants as he looked down at her.“Fuck, Harper.Did you fall asleep?I thought something happened.I knocked three times.”
He did?She hadn’t heard that.He looked angry, and she immediately started to shrink down as small as she could.Would he scream at her?Call her names?Or worse?
“I-I—” she stuttered.
Almost immediately, his eyes softened, and he lowered himself to a squat.“Fuck, baby.I’m sorry.I didn’t mean to frighten you.I was worried.I shouldn’t have let you bathe alone after everything you went through tonight.”
She still had her hands pressed over her breasts, and she was thankful for the bubbles blocking the view of the rest of her naked body.
“I dozed off.I’m sorry.I’m so tired,” she said quietly.
He nodded and reached for the towel he’d put out on the counter.“I know, baby.Tell you what.I’m going to close my eyes and help you out of the tub.”
She hesitated, but when he closed his eyes and held out the open towel, she pushed herself up and grabbed hold of his hand for balance.He wrapped the towel around her and didn’t let go or open his eyes until she brought her arms down to keep it in place.
“Come on, Little one.Let’s get you into bed.”
There was a fresh nightgown that wasn’t hers laid out on the comforter.It was so pretty.Soft yellow with white daisies all over it.
“I borrowed one of Carlee’s nightgowns from Atlas.King didn’t grab any sleeping clothes for you.I’ll get you some tomorrow.For now, will this work?”
“Of course.I could have worn one of your T-shirts even.”Her cheeks immediately warmed at what she’d said.
He probably thinks you’re an idiot.So needy.
