Levi laughed and brought her hand up to his mouth to kiss it.“That’s my girl.I like you sassy.”

She looked up at him and relaxed when the only thing she saw in his eyes was pure amusement.
When she moved her gaze to Bear, he winked.“Bear pancakes it is, princess.”
“What are you girls going to do today?”Kade asked as he snatched a piece of bacon from Remi’s plate.
“Hey!”she whined, but Kade laughed and kissed the top of her head, immediately quieting her.

“We were actually thinking of exploring the forest behind the compound.Harper, you can come with us,” Carlee answered, a mischievous glint in her eyes.

Carlee’s shoulders dropped.“Well, that’s rude.Fine.We could have a tea party under the big tree.It’s gonna be super nice outside today.”
Steele nodded.“That’s a much better idea.I bet you could talk Gabriel into making you some sandwiches so you can have lunch out there as well.”
Levi squeezed Harper’s hand gently, his voice soothing as he spoke, “Sounds like a perfect plan, Carlee.Do you want to join them, kitten?”
Harper nodded eagerly.“Yes, please.Can I?”
She hadn’t meant to ask him for permission.It had felt natural.Everything between them felt natural.Sleeping in his arms had been like a dream.She’d never felt so safe with someone.
It must have been hard for him to share his nightmares with her, but it eased some of the doubt she had that he trusted her with something so painful.It made her think that maybe she could trust him too.
“Of course, baby doll.As long as you don’t leave the compound without letting me know.Okay?”
“Okay.”
A collective cheer erupted around the table, and Carlee jumped up, clapping her hands together.“Yay!It’s settled then.”
“Okay, we need to talk rules first,” Kade said.
Remi groaned.“Always with the rules, Daddy.So many rules.It’s not like we’re going skydiving.”
“Remi,” Kade warned.“If you want to be a sassy Little girl, you can sit this one out and spend the day with a hot bottom.”
