As Kade finished laying out the rules, Remi’s voice cut through the tension.“Okaaaay, we get it.No running off alone, no climbing trees taller than Bear, don’t eat any weird-looking berries.Can we go now?”
“Little one, you’re about two seconds away from regretting your attitude.”
Remi sighed.“Sorry, Daddy.I’m just excited.”
Kade wrapped his fist around Remi’s ponytail and pulled her head back to kiss her.“I know, baby.But you also know we would be devastated if anything happened to any of you.That’s why we have so many rules.”
Harper’s heart raced the entire time she watched the two of them.The affection, the guidance…it was all so intoxicating.She wanted to experience that.
Levi leaned in closer as the couple continued to kiss, his voice barely above a whisper.“Don’t worry, kitten.We’ll have our own special moments together soon enough.”
She turned to look up at him and nodded.Heat pooled between her thighs, and she bit her lip in anticipation.It scared her how much she wanted it to happen.She wanted Levi.She wanted to call him Daddy and experience the kind of special connection that Remi, Carlee, and Ivy so obviously had with their Daddies.
“I can’t believe how big the compound is,” Harper said as they meandered toward an enormous oak tree behind the clubhouse.
The entire place was surrounded by land.So much that she couldn’t see the concrete walls the girls said lined the compound.The way the grounds were manicured, and how clean it was, made it obvious the guys cared about it.
“I’ve been trying to talk my Daddy into building us a treehouse in the oak tree.He keeps saying no.One day, I’ll convince him,” Carlee said.
Harper looked ahead to the tree.It was so big that they could probably build five tree houses in it.The branches were perfect for climbing on too.She could hardly wait.Apparently, it was the girls’ favorite spot.
Ivy swung a picnic basket as they walked.Gabriel had ended up making sandwiches and snacks for them along with a thermos of tea for their tea party.It surprised Harper how much the men were involved in the Littles’ lives.Not only did they have loving and supportive Daddies, but they had all kinds of Uncles who didn’t blink an eye at stepping in when needed.It felt like they were all one big family.She was starting to realize she wanted to experience a life like that.
Even though she was excited to hang out with the women, the farther they got away from the clubhouse, the more she missed Levi.
Clingy much?
“You look smitten,” Ivy said with a smirk.
Harper sucked her bottom lip into her mouth and glanced at the petite woman.She held a stuffed bear under her free arm.
When Harper hummed and shrugged, Ivy laughed.
Remi skipped up to them.She was dressed in all black except for the big pink bow in her hair.Harper loved Remi’s style.Even if she’d never be able to pull it off herself.
“You like Doc.We can tell.I think he’s in love with you,” Remi said.
Harper burst out laughing.“Hardly!We barely know each other.”
Ivy shrugged.“Doesn’t mean he doesn’t love you.I fell in love with my Daddy fast.We clicked immediately.He found me in a dumpster—a story for another time—and when he saved me, he said he knew immediately I was his.He took me home right after.”
As they continued walking down the path, Harper couldn’t help but let Ivy’s words linger in her mind.Was it possible for someone to fall in love so quickly?She doubted it.Love was a complex emotion, one that required time and trust to develop.Didn’t it?She certainly couldn’t deny the strong connection she’d felt with Levi from the moment they met.
Carlee spread out an enormous quilt near the base of the tree, dropped her backpack onto it, and then sat.Ivy plopped down beside her with her stuffed bear still clutched tightly under her arm.When Harper lowered herself to the blanket, she sighed and looked back at the clubhouse.
“I’m scared to get involved with Levi.I was mentally, emotionally, and physically abused by my ex.He messed me up, and I don’t trust easily.I’m scared of everything.I can hardly make a decision on my own.I’m a total wreck.He would realize quickly that I’m too much for him to take on.”
Carlee raised her eyebrows and shook her head.“I don’t think you understand these men.Doc would be the most amazing Daddy for you.He would cut off his dick before he ever hurt a woman.All the things you listed, those are all things he would love about you.He would love to make the decisions.He would love to be your protector and make you feel safe.Those men want to be needed.They want the control.”
Remi nodded.“It’s true.Even though I sass Kade about all the rules, I secretly love it when he goes over them before we go play.It’s his way of protecting us and having control when he can’t be there.”
Harper listened to Carlee and Remi, and let their words sink deep into her heart.She’d never considered how someone like Doc could be her protector, her safe haven.
Lost in her thoughts, Harper barely registered when Ivy tugged at her arm.“What do you think?How doyoufeel about him?”she asked, eyes wide with curiosity.
Harper took a deep breath and met their gazes.“I like him.More than I probably should at this point.Maybe...maybe I should give it a chance,” she whispered, surprising herself as the words escaped her lips.
Carlee grinned brightly and clapped her hands together.“Yes!That’s the spirit.Operation get Harper and Doc togetheris under way.”
