I drop my phone on the nightstand and sit, knowing he’ll be here in a moment. Suddenly, I’m so very nervous. He did me so wrong, but I can’t deny that I’ve missed him. A lot. I hear the door open. A moment later he enters the room. This is the most disheveled I’ve ever seen him. His long hair is piled into a messy bun. He’s wearing jeans and a t-shirt, and the shirt is wrinkled, like he’s slept in it. He comes to a stop near the bed, as if he’s unsure where he should sit.
He puts his hands in his pockets and says, “Hey.”
I laugh, gaining a scowl from him.
“Sorry. Hey just seems…weird after everything we’ve been through.”
His lips lift in a small smile. “I suppose it does.”
I point to a spot near me. “You can sit, if you want.”
He does, and we’re both silent.
“How have you been?”
I say, “Like I said in the text message. Since you’ve been following me, I’m sure you know the answer to that.”
“I may know where you went and who you were with, but that doesn’t mean I know howyouare.”
I sigh. “I’m good, I guess. Lonely. Mad. Horny.”
My cheeks flush as I say the last bit. It’s the truth, though.
He hums under his breath. “Let’s start with lonely. Why are you lonely?”
“Because I miss you, you dummy.”
“And mad?”
“Again, because of you. And before you ask, yes, I’m horny because of you, too.”
His lips lift into a small smile. “I see.”
“I just don’t know where we go from here.”
“We take it a day at a time, pet. We get to know each other and see where things go.”
I say, “I’m not sure it’s that simple. So much has happened between the two of us. Hell, I’m pregnant with your child. And you think we can take it a day at a time?”
“What do you suggest?”
I’m silent for a moment. There’s a part of me that’s still worried that he’s going to run off the moment he can’t handle what I have to say, but I will not live my life in fear.
“Are Jetsam and Flotsam here?”
“No, but they can be. Why?”
“I’d like to speak to them before we talk.”
His brows pinch together, but he nods. “I’ll see to it that they’re here tomorrow.”
“Is Seb here?”
“Yes.”
“Will you send him over? I’d like my sisters to meet him.”
He nods. “Of course.”
