“Making sure you were settling in.” He moves closer until our bodies are touching. “Did you get the email?”

“I did.”

“And you didn’t reply? I’m hurt.”

“I’m sure you’ll live.”

I inhale deeply and my chest brushes against his shirt. It’s enough stimulation that my nipples harden. His gaze trails down to my chest and a smile plays on his lips.

“You’re getting water on my floor.”

“You took my towel.”

He captures my wrist, lifting it. I shiver when he rubs his thumb over the mark left from the handcuffs.

“I hope you disobey me, baby girl, so that I can punish you.”

I swallow loudly. “Not going to happen.”

“We’ll see.”

He drops my hand and turns, leaving. My emotions are all over the place. Why did he come in here? And why in the hell did I like it when he said that he would punish me? Groaning, I grab my towel and dry off. My clothes are still on my bed. I dress quickly in case he comes back.

Turning off the light, I climb under the bedding and shiver. Sleeping somewhere new is always difficult for me. It’s always been like that. I’m on edge and can’t seem to get comfortable, no matter how hard I try. I close my eyes, exhaling slowly. I can do this.

I’m just getting relaxed when my phone buzzes. Rolling over, I see a text from an unknown number.

Unknown

Hey. This is Flynn.

From the bar a few weeks ago.

Oh, hey! How are you?

Good. How are you?

I’m better now that I’m talking to you.

I bet you say that to all the boys.

So, I was thinking. We never got that second drink. Are you free tomorrow night?

I don’t think I can.

Boyfriend?

No.

Girlfriend?

No. Just a lot going on at home.

Does the big, scary stepdad have anything to do with it?

Yeah.

Thought so.
