“Get the fuck out of my office,” I snarled at him. I didn’t need to hear the rest of the sentence to know it was about the woman who was currently sitting downstairs.

Luca held his hands out in a pacifying gesture as he laughed at me. He was getting enjoyment out of seeing me spun up about this woman and it pissed me off. He stood and stuffed his hands into the pockets of his pants. Whistling a merry tune, he left me alone to stew.

Havoc was beginning to twist these men around her little finger. Just this morning I watched as my long-time chef bustled around the kitchen making her a cake for breakfast. Who eats cake that early in the morning?

I tapped my finger on the desk then checked my watch. It was only noon, but a plan began to form. It’d been too many years since I’d had to make this much effort for a woman. Admittedly, I was a bit rusty.

Scrolling through, I found the email Sal’s son-in-law sent me a few weeks ago. I punched numbers into my cell phone and waited while it rang.

“Thanks for calling Elevate Dog Center, this is Sam. How may I help you?”

A wicked smile spread over my face.

A few days later,I found Havoc sitting in the game room, mashing the controls on the Xbox. She gave me a quick glance before refocusing on the screen.

“You busy?”

“Kinda,” she muttered, then crowed when she killed someone in Call of Duty.

“Too busy to go somewhere with me?” I had to bite back a laugh when her head snapped up at that.

“No.” She stood and turned off the console. “Let’s go.” She tossed the remote on the ottoman and bee-lined for the door.

I grabbed her by the waist and pulled her back into me. She grunted as she rebounded off my chest, but I steadied her. “Not so fast.”

A flash of irritation crossed her face. I couldn’t blame her. I often felt confined here in the house and I left anytime I felt like it. Being stuck inside wasn’t easy for either of us.

“Go grab a coat. It’s still cold out.” I was ready for summer to return and drive away the cold that was lingering in the air through the day. Winter coming meant short days and freezing temperatures. I was used to it, but coming from Texas I wasn’t sure Havoc had acclimated yet.

She raced out of the room and up the stairs. I let the chuckle that formed in my chest free as I watched her bolt toward our room. One of the housekeepers froze on her way across the foyer and sent me a wide-eyed look. She didn’t stick around long. Once our eyes connected she let out a squeak of a sound and scampered through the nearest doorway.

I leaned against the doorframe and waited. Havoc didn’t disappoint and came running back in record time. I watched as her tight jeans hugged her thighs and thought back to the other day when they’d been wrapped around my hips.

Swiping my thumb over my lower lip, I considered cancelling the plans I just made and carrying her back up to my bed. Better yet, we’d make use of one of these empty rooms.

She stopped in front of me and searched my face. “What?”

My eyes strayed upstairs before they slid back to her face. She licked her lips and I had to hold back the groan. There wasn’t time to do the things I wanted to do to her body. The plans I’d spent the last hour finalizing weren’t going to wait while I played out all the dirty fantasies running through my mind.

“Let’s go,” I told her in a gruff voice. The drive to my stables was quick, if not comfortable. My dick was hard and I couldn’t get the image of her mouth wrapped around it out of my head. She was practically vibrating in her seat, looking around as we drove.

When we pulled into the parking lot to Malavita she gasped. She reached over and gripped my forearm, squeezing as a way of showing her excitement and gratitude.

The car wasn’t fully stopped before she flung open the door and hopped out.

“Havoc,” I growled as I slammed on the brakes.

Her smile was mischievous and completely unapologetic, but she waited for me to park before she grabbed my hand and started dragging me toward the main building.

I’d already called ahead, so as soon as we showed up Vince walked our horses outside. Diavolo tossed his head and let out a sharp whinny when he saw me. Understandable. The last few weeks had been too busy, so I’d missed my early morning rides. The Friesian was a picky horse and wouldn’t let anyone else ride him. Vince and Havoc exchanged a pleasant greeting. I’d been the one to speak to him about her not working here any longer so there were no hard feelings on his side.

“He’s gorgeous,” Havoc said. “He wouldn’t ever let me pet him when I was cleaning stalls.” There was a wistful note in her voice.

Striding forward, I took the reins from Vince and spoke softly to my mount. “He will now,” I told her.

She eyed me then the huge horse standing next to me dubiously. She wasn’t a coward, though, so she stepped forward and placed a hand on his muzzle. Diavolo jerked his head slightly until I gave him a hard look, then he settled down.
