I fucking love what I’m building with Theo. I’ve never been prouder of anything than I am of our cafe. We cleaned anddecorated every inch of this place. We designed it together, from the marketing materials to the menus.

Martinique and Theo are already talking about expanding next door—there’s an old printing shop that Martinique wants to turn into a bakery.

She only lasted a week with Angus after Theo quit. Theo’s been subcontracting her to make the morning pastries, but Martinique has grand plans for wedding cakes, which will need a lot more space.

The way things are going, it shouldn’t be long before we can afford to expand. The bell over the door jingles, and another pack of excited influencers streams inside, already snapping pictures of the vintage jukebox and the pretty painted chairs.

Later, when everyone is gone and Theo and I have wiped the last table and tucked in the last chair, I join her in the kitchen.

She looks exhausted, adorable, and extremely happy. She also has a dusting of icing sugar on her nose.

“You’ve got sugar on you…”

“So do you,” she says, flicking some at me.

We haven’t finished cleaning the kitchen yet, so I have no problem grabbing a handful of sugar and chucking it at her. Theo shrieks with laughter, pelting me with raspberries. I catch one in my mouth, but the rest go bouncing off my face and shoulders, rolling everywhere.

“You’re making a mess,” I growl, scooping her up, lifting her onto the counter.

“How about now?” she says, smearing chocolate sauce on my face.

“You little devil…” I give her the messiest of kisses, tasting chocolate and powdered sugar and the honey-sweet lips of my beloved.

The kiss deepens. Theo’s legs wrap around my waist. She looks into my eyes, and I know she’s remembering that we haven’t christened this space yet.

“I’m so fucking proud of you,” I say, my lips on her mouth, the edge of her jaw, the side of her neck…

“I can’t believe we did it.” Theo’s hands twine in my hair. “You made my dream come true, Sully.”

“Youmade your dream come true. I just helped.”

I kiss her again, unbuttoning her top, untying her apron, unwrapping her like a gift.

Sheisa gift, a miracle, a treasure…

I think of the day I first started researching Angus and I saw a picture of Theo standing next to him.

I recognized her immediately, some strange, electric current zipping through my blood. It was the same feeling I used to get when I’d see her at school.

I don’t know if I believe in fate. But what I know for certain is that I wouldn’t be where I am today, and neither would Theo, if we weren’t drawn together.

She’s what was missing in my life. And I know exactly whatsheneeds to be happy.

Life can be brutal and unfair. But it does bring us these gifts, the people we need and the ones who need us…

I open her shirt, revealing the beautiful breasts I waited so long to see. As usual, I lacked imagination. The reality is so much better…

“What are you smiling about?” Theo says.

“You.” I touch her breasts, I kiss them, caress them… “I’m smiling because of you. I’m happy because of you.”

Theo’s nipples stiffen and her skin flushes. Every part of her blushes in its own way, even her breasts. The scent rising off her skin is still sweet but edged with something naughtier…

My cock rises in response. I pull down her underwear beneath her skirt, sliding it down her legs, tucking it in my pocket. Then I unzip and bury myself inside her.

Theo gasps, head tilting back, thighs tight around my waist. I grab a handful of her hair and pull her head back even farther, licking and sucking on the side of her neck.

She picks up a raspberry, placing it between her lips. I take it from her mouth with mine, crushing it with my tongue, kissing her in the bright burst of tangy sweetness.
