We’d kissed a handful of times. Nothing was magical about her kisses, but everything felt different since we had said our vows. Something told me kissing Allison this time around was going to be amazing.

“I think I want you to be mine,” she whispered.

Something inside me warmed with her words.

She wanted me. It was the first time she’d made me feel wanted, and it was an addicting feeling.

“First, what’s going on with you? We’ve been together for six months, and things have never been like this between us,” I said, motioning to the space between us.

Her eyes went wide, and a panicked expression rushed over her face. As quickly as it was there, though, it was gone. Then she grinned up at me, and said, “Well, we’re married now, and if we are going to make this work, we might as well act like a married couple, right? I know I can be a bit obnoxious at times, but that was before. Now, I’m a married woman. It’s time to act like one.”

She was right.

Maybe I could have my cake and eat it too. I could get the family business and have a real marriage with Allison. I was physically attracted to her, so I might as well take the initiative to get to know her— really get to know the woman I married—and not just go through the motions like when we were dating. And if I was going to get to know her, then I was going to let her get to know me, too.

What was the worst that could happen?

If we didn’t get along, then we could stay married but do our own thing.

I moved in closer to her, backing her up against the railing behind her.

“Then I’m all yours.”

She visibly swallowed, and her chest rose and dropped with her breaths. I leaned in closer, running my nose up the side of her cheek and breathing her in. I wanted to hear her say she wanted me. It was intoxicating, but my pride kept me from asking her to repeat it.

She trembled in my arms, and I rubbed her arms to warm them with my hands. Her skin was soft beneath my palms, and I wondered if the rest of her body was just as silky.

“Your hands are so warm,” she said.

“That’s not the only thing warm on me.” I winked, and she blushed and looked away, making me chuckle. “I have to tell you, Allison, I’m enjoying this shy side of you, but I hope you’re loud when you’re beneath me later.”

Again, she trembled. “What?” she whispered.

“You heard me.”

Then I shocked her when I picked her up and tossed her over my shoulder. She squealed and then reached back, tugging on her dress to cover her cute cotton-covered ass.

“Put me down, Wyatt! I’m perfectly capable of walking.”

“Yeah, but where’s the fun in that?” Then I flipped her dress back up and swatted her ass, making her squeal yet again.

If we were going to do this marriage thing, then it was time to get our honeymoon started.
