“Yeah?”

“Are you okay?”

“I’m fine. Why?”

“I don’t know. You seem nervous.”

“I’m not,” she said too eagerly. “Why would I be nervous?”

I shrugged. “I don’t know. You tell me. I have to be honest; you’re acting off.”

“I promise I’m fine. If anything, I’m great. Being here, in this beautiful place with you … it’s like a dream.”

Her words were a little too sweet for my tastes, and I felt myself pulling away from her body. The breeze moved between us and cooled me a bit.

“I’m sorry. Is this a problem for you? Should I act more promiscuous?”

Promiscuous?

Really?

“No,” I said honestly. “I think I like this side of you better. Usually, you’re so …” I paused.

Fuck.

I didn’t want to insult her, but the way she stiffened in my embrace told me I had done just that.

“Usually what?” she asked. “Loud?”

I wasn’t one to sugarcoat things, so I said, “Yes. Among other things.”

“Obnoxious?”

I chuckled. “You said it. Not me.”

“Flirtatious?”

Yes. Allison had definitely been flirtatious. She had flirted with several men right in front of me while we were “dating.” Now that we were married, that shit wasn’t going to fly.

“Speaking of your flirty nature, there’s something I want to talk to you about.”

She turned in my arms, her blue eyes capturing me as she waited for me to speak.

“I know you’re a bit of a flirt. Hell, you’ve flirted with other men in front of me, but now that we’re married, I’d prefer you not do that anymore. Whether it’s in front of me or behind my back, I won’t tolerate it.”

She grinned, and laughter filled her eyes. “You won’t tolerate it?”

Running my fingers through my hair, I found myself grinning back at her. “I’m serious. I don’t share what’s mine.”

Her brow lifted. “What’s yours, huh?”

I nodded. “Yes.”

“Do these rules apply to you, as well?”

“Depends. Do you want them to?”

She nibbled her bottom lip as she contemplated my question, and I found my desire to kiss her strong.
