He looked up at me and smiled. “I’m sure.”

I nodded, taking my PJs and personal items into the small bathroom with me.

I turned the water on as hot as I could stand it, and then I stood under the spray and tried to wash away the last few weeks of my life. Everything had been so terrible, except for Aiken, who was hot and cold so much I didn’t know if I should include him in the good category or not.

Once I was done, I dried off in the bathroom and dressed before stepping out. I didn’t want another towel incident because as much I as I said I would never let him touch me again, I knew the second he tried I would melt for him.

When I stepped back into the room, the smell of food wafted in my direction, and my stomach growled loudly. A tray was sitting on the desk in the room with two covered dishes and two canned sodas.

“What’s that?” I said, motioning to the tray with my brush.

He pulled his clothes out of his bag, and without looking at me, he said, “Food.”

I sighed. “You refuse to let me do this trip my way, don’t you?”

He nodded, zipping his bag and tossing it onto the floor. “Yep.”

“Why?”

“Because your way sucks. Your way means sleeping in a small car and starving. No, thank you.”

“I’m going to pay you back. Think about that every time you decide to spend money that I didn’t ask you to spend.”

He sighed, resting his hand on his hip. “Why can’t you just say thank you and leave it at that?”

“Because I want to pay my own way.”

“Fine. Pay me back when you can. Now can we please eat?”

I smirked at him and nodded. “Yes. And Aiken?”

He opened one of the trays, and the sight of the big cheeseburger waiting for me made my mouth water. He looked up at me with a raised brow.

“Yeah?”

I moved into him, wrapping my arms around his waist. He went tense at first and then relaxed, putting his arms around me, as well.

“Thank you,” I said into his chest.

He breathed in deeply and then exhaled. “You’re welcome.”

His stomach growled, and I giggled.

“We should probably eat.”

He pulled back and chuckled. “Yes. I’m starving.”

We ate, and once he cleared his plate, he disappeared into the bathroom and took a shower. I got comfy in the bed closest to the window and turned on the TV. When he exited the bathroom, a cloud of steam followed him out. His chest was bare, a pair of sweats hung loosely on his narrow hips.

I swallowed, my eyes falling down his chest and landing on his engorged package, which was visible in his sweats. Aiken Cross was probably one of the sexiest men I had ever seen. From his broad shoulders and bad-boy tattoos to his beautiful ab muscles, I couldn’t keep my eyes off him.

When I stopped staring at his body and looked up at his face, he was looking back at me. His jaw was tight, and his eyes were on fire. Either he didn’t like the way I was looking at him, or I was sending him over the edge. Either way, I looked away and turned onto my other side.

“Goodnight,” I said, squeezing my eyes closed and trying to rid my mind of his beautiful body.

“Night,” his deep voice rumbled behind me.

I listened to him getting into his bed and then the lamp between our two beds turned off, leaving us in the light of the TV. It had been a long while since I slept in a comfortable place, and it took no time at all for me to fall asleep. I don’t know how long I slept, but a nightmare took hold of me, and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t wake up.
