I see the jerk in her shoulders and almost want to punch my boy. "It's nothing we can't talk about later." And I hope my tone tells them all to shut the fuck up.

"But Harry must have been involved in it," Kit continues, ignoring my warning. The dude just can't take a hint.

Mia looks pointedly at me. "There’s no point in avoiding it. I have to know what's happening. If I don't, then that puts me in more danger. But Harry and Zac won't be working together.”

"Why?" Sawyer asks, throwing a medicine ball at Lucas. They play catch like they weigh as much as a feather, as they wait for Mia to fess up.

Mia frowns. "I know that Zac's dates went to Harry about date rape?"

"What the fuck!" Lucas explodes, dropping the ball and nearly breaking his feet.

"Wells!" Coach hollers.

Lucas doesn't seem to care about the warning.

"Why wasn't he suspended?" I question.

Mia shrugs. "No evidence. Harry said he got a warning."

"That's not justice," Sawyer grunts.

The heat moving through my gut is visibly being chewed by the rest of my crew.

"One of the girls had been caught out on some parts of her story...I remember her elaborating... and that was retracted."

"Once again they get away with it!" Kit storms, his jaw popping.

"He seems the type to push boundaries and disrespect women," Lucas agrees.

"But we have to be clever with this. The moment we turn to slander, we lose our credibility when it comes to everything we know about him, and want to use against him. We have to be cleverer than them,” I urge, despite my own need to crush some skulls, or scullers, to be more correct.

Coach nods his approval before walking back into his office.

"We watch him like hawks then."

"Isn't that an eagle?" Kit questions Lucas.

"Who cares! We will watch him like a bloody big bird that's the best at hunting."

I nod, then we go hunting.

CHAPTER NINETEEN ¦ GOING LIVE IN THREE…TWO…ONE

?

Mia

They've brought the boathouse tension to Momma's and the air is clogged with it. I’m pretty sure everyone can feel it. I want to tell them to shake it off, but I fear one of them will want to rip my tongue out. In the nicest possible way. I know they won't hurt me, but their thunderous faces don't hold much warmth. I'd thought it was common knowledge around campus about the date rape scandal, but obviously not. I already know this crew well enough that they won't just leave it or keep it to themselves.

The waitress who always seems to be working here, smiles as she puts a small plate in front of me. Blue eyes flirt with the table as she pushes at hair that seems to be a darker chestnut than before.

"We have to do something," Lucas hisses.

I barely contain a sigh. I’m so sick of the drama.

"Coach will kill us if we do something, and I don't think we should go charging into this."

Thank you, Sawyer!
