“No hospitals.Once they see it’s a gunshot wound, they will call the cops,” Cutter shouts while he and Griffin bring Hayden inside.“Call Everleigh,” Cutter says to Foster.She is Hayden’s cousin and works as a nurse at the local hospital.
“She’s on her way,” Foster says.
Hayden is on the pool table, and Griffin pulls me aside.“Tell me everything that happened and start from the beginning.”

Through tears, Astera recalls all the details of what happened.I’m seething I didn’t insist on more of us going for the protection.It was careless of us.Of me.
“Go get out of those clothes and shower.”
“My bag is still out in the SUV.”
“I’ll have it in the room by the time you get out,” I rush out the words because I am concerned about Hayden and what we are going to do to save Claire.
Thankfully, Everleigh had the day off work, and she is able to rush over here to tend to Hayden.She tied his leg above the wound and did her nurse shit, I have no clue about.
Once everyone calms down and Everleigh is done, Cutter pulls me to the side.“Did you get the details from Astera and Killer?”
“I did.”
“Okay, once Hayden is situated, let’s all meet in Church.”
“Sounds good.”
This gives me a little time to grab the bags from the SUV and haul them to my room.Astera is sitting on the bed wrapped in a towel.
“Sorry.”
She starts to ruffle through her clothes.“Are you okay?”
“No.My best friend was kidnapped, and Hayden was shot.And there wasn’t a goddamn thing I could do about it.”She starts to cry again.
“Hey.”I pull her to me and hold her against me.“It’s okay.You didn’t do anything wrong.Claire is almost as feisty as you.We will find her and bring her back.”I kiss her forehead.“I have to brief the guys on what happened.”
“How is Hayden?”
“He’s okay.”
She nods in response.
“I’ll be back shortly.”
As much as I would love to stay in this room to console Astera, I can’t be in two places at the same time.
“We need to head into Church,” I say, rounding the guys up.
Once we are behind closed doors, we settle around the table.
“Give us the low down,” Cutter says.
I sigh.“I had Astera tell me everything from the beginning, and Killer pretty much confirmed everything.”
I give the guys all the details I have.
“I’m ready to go there right now to get my sister.Those fuckers will pay,” Rowan spits out.“They are making us pay for something we didn’t do.”
