“What do you want?”I ask, swinging the door open.

“I came by to see if you’re were all right.”

I open the door wider to let him in.“I’m fine.”

He steps close to me, brushing my hair back, he inspects my neck to take a closer look under the light of my kitchen. My nipples immediately stand at attention, and I curse my body for reacting that way with just a brush of his touch.

“Looks okay.Does Cutter do this often?”He drops his hands to his sides.

“No.Never.He’s never touched anyone like that. How’d you know where I live anyway?”

“Lock told me.You sure you’re okay?”

“Griffin, I’m fine. That was way out of character for Cutter.Want something to drink?”

“Yeah, I’ll take a water.”

I pull a bottle from the fridge and hand it to him.

“Thanks.”

Griffin follows me to the living room, “Have a seat.I’m going to grab my robe.”

After I grab my robe, I find him sitting in the chair, his legs spread wide.I notice how muscular his legs are.

“Nice place you got here.”He looks around the room while twisting the cap from his water bottle.

“Thanks.”I sit on the couch across from him.

“So, what have you been up to?”he asks.

I shrug, “Nothing, really.Working in the tattoo and doing paperwork for the club.Cutter pays me well.I help out with other stuff too.But one thing I don’t do is whore myself out.”

Griffin cocks his head.“Is that what Cutter asked you to do?”

“Not in so many words, but yeah.I’d leave before I reduced myself to that.”

“Good for you.”

“I’m sorry.I never did get to congratulate you on your exoneration.I never believed you did what they said you did.”

Griffin grins.“Thanks, Astera.I still can’t get over how much you grew up.I remember when you were a teen running around with Logan.I’m sorry to hear about his passing.”

“It’s okay.Every day that passes gets better, that’s all I can hope for, anyway. But if I’m honest, some days are good, and some days I don’t want to get out of bed.”

“I can understand that.”He stands, running a hand down his fitted jeans.“Guess I better go.Thanks for the water.”He stands to leave.

I didn’t want Griffin to leave.“It’s late. You’re welcome to use the couch for the night. We can head back to the club tomorrow.”

“I don’t want to put you out.Cutter said I could stay at the club.”

I shrug.“It’s up to you.All I have to do is grab some sheets from the closet.”

He smiles.“You’re right.It’s late.I’ll stay.”

“Good,” I say before turning to go grab the sheets.

Handing Griffin the sheets, I bid him, “Goodnight.”
