I glance at Astera as she walks into the office.“Nothing happened last night.I went to make sure she was okay.Besides, I wouldn’t tell any of you assholes if I did anyway,” I grin, tipping my head at him.
Lock trails behind me while I walk inside the club, and I spot Cutter hunched over at the bar.“Rough night?”I ask, sliding on the stool next to him.
He raises a hand.“I already know I fucked up, bro.The biggest bouquet I could get is already waiting on her desk.”
“Okay, but that still doesn’t make it right.Look, man, if me being here has you off in some way, tell me.I know how to get lost.”
“It wasn’t you, Griff.I was just trying to make your first night back awesome.Speaking of which, I heard you were with her all night.”
“Nothing happened.It was late, and she offered me the couch.Nothing to it.”
“Uh-huh.”Cutter sips on his bloody Mary.“As I said, she’s a good girl.She’s the kind you bring home to Mom.”
“Just let me handle my own personal life.Don’t you have an ole lady yet?”
Cutter lifts an eyebrow at me.“We need to make a run tonight.You up for it?”he asks without answering my question.
“Hell yeah.What are we running?”
“Nothing.We are just providing some security for some guys that like to drag race,” Cutter chuckles.“And just watching out for cops.”
“Oh, so Midnight Kings is legit now?”
Cutter shrugs.“We do a lot of security-type stuff.It’s all on the up and up.Once in a while, we might have to do something dangerous, but it’s been pretty quiet lately.”
I tap my fingers on the bar counter.“Cool.”
“We have a few businesses that are legit as well.The tattoo shop, the bike shop, and…we have a club of sorts.”
“What kind of club?”
Cutter smirks.“We have a strip club, and we have a sex club.We even have themed nights like a Masquerade.There’s even a bondage night.”
“I can believe it about the strip club, but a sex club?”
“Yep.And Astera handles all the paperwork for all the businesses.”
“How is the sex club legal?”
“It’s for consenting adults, Griffin.Couples go there.They pay a membership fee.Some couples invite a third person into the equation, or they like to watch while they get off.There is a specific area for socializing and then a play area.”
“Jesus.”I missed so much while I was on the inside.
“Oh, relax, Griffin.Maybe you need a visit there.See if any single ladies are there.I forgot to mention, there is even a ladies’ night,” Cutter winks.
“I’m far from a prude, Cutter.I’m just surprised, is all.”
“You know the old building on thirteenth?”
I nod.“I remember it.”
“That’s the place.”
“Ah.Well, I will say this have me very intrigued.”
Cutter slaps a hand on my shoulder.“Well, you’ll have to hold that thought because we have a job tonight.”
I laugh, and right then, I notice Astera walking into the club.Walking in, she holds her head high and moves so seductively.That’s the word I’d describe her, Seductress.I smirk to myself.
