“Yeah, I think it all depends on how he does in the preseason,” Liam replied.

They liked this bar. It was close to the practice field and a place where they could come and people left them alone.

Too many times if they were recognized, fans would not let them enjoy their drinks. And today, they were all tired. They wouldn’t be here long, but it felt so good to be out.

“Hey, has anyone seen the new cheerleaders? I hear there are some hot ones,” Rufus said. “I’m really ready to find a woman. Do you know how long it’s been since I’ve had sex?”

They all laughed. Even the married men didn’t get to go home during training camp, so none of them had been with a woman in the last two weeks.

Two weeks of being evaluated and competing against each other for a spot on the team. Fourteen grueling days of workouts and crawling into bed, your muscles aching, body begging for rest.

Even the veterans could be released if they did not do well. It was an intense time and they all needed to blow off some steam.

“You don’t want to do one of the cheerleaders,” Liam said. “You’ll have to see her all season. Pick up some girl in a bar.”

Just then the door opened and in walked one of the hottest women Cody had ever seen.

“One like that one,” Liam said.

“Damn,” Rufus said starting to rise from his stool.

Her blonde hair was pulled up in a scrunchy with tentacles of blonde hair trailing down her face and neck. Her long neck was arched in a way that he wanted to kiss along it all the way up to her full mouth.

She had a pert little nose and arched cheekbones. And her eyes looked all smoky amber with lashes that were long enough that they lay on her cheek. Long legs and full breasts that were more than a handful.

Rufus stood.

“Oh, hell no,” Cody said as he rose. “Back off. This one is mine.”

“Who made you king?” Rufus said. “I’m the one that’s horny.”

“You know how to take care of yourself,” he said walking away. “Failure is not an option.”

He could hear the laughter as he walked away. There was something about this woman that drew him. He had to know her name.

But what was he going to say to her? Hello, you want to fuck?

No, too crass. Hello, you’re smoking hot and I’m horny as hell?

No, too direct.

Suddenly he stopped right in front of her.

“Hi,” he said.

She frowned at him and he realized he hadn’t thought to check her hand to see if she was married.

“Hello,” she said elongating the word.

“My buddies and I are back there celebrating and we wondered if you’d like to join us.”

Why did he include the group? What was wrong with him? He didn’t want them near her.

“No, thank you,” she said. “I’m meeting friends.”

“Oh,” he said. “They’re welcome to join us as well.”

He didn’t want to use his position in life. Hey, I’m a randy football player or even mention that he’d won the lottery. He just wanted her to join him because she found him attractive.
