With a sigh, she sat beside Cristina. “I meant to tell you earlier, you look tired.”

“Wyatt received his shots yesterday and spent most of the night crying and running a fever. Not a bad one. And, of course, my mother had to let me know her feelings this morning about his father not doing his share. If she knew who his father was, she’d be burning up the telephone lines telling him he had a son.”

Nodding, her friend sighed. “My ex doesn’t even pay for his kids, so what makes her think Wyatt’s father would pay?”

Because Wyatt’s father was a billionaire, but that was something Cristina had only told one person. Her best friend and she’d made her swear that she would never reveal his name.

“I don’t know. I’ve got to find a backup babysitter for when he’s sick. Someone I can trust.”

The plane bounced and the captain came on and told everyone that the seatbelt sign was on and for them to remain seated for the remainder of the flight.

“You need to get some rest. I’m more worried about you coming down with something because you’re not getting enough sleep.”

Cristina yawned. “You know how it is when you’re a single mom who has a baby.”

“Yes, I know, but you have to take care of yourself,” Betty said.

Oh, how she wished she hadn’t gotten pregnant, and yet Wyatt was her life now. That little boy gave her so much joy. Yes, being a mother was hard work, but she would never give him up.

“If other mothers told single women how hard it is taking care of a baby alone, I think there would be a lot fewer pregnancies.”

Betty laughed. “And how you have to give up your freedom. Your wild single life. Your partying.”

Laughter bubbled up from Cristina. “What single life? What partying? It’s been over a year since I’ve seen the inside of a bar. Probably the night I let some man convince me that we needed each other. And I stupidly believed him.”

And yet that night had been the best night of her life.

Just then the light came on over seat 34A.

“My turn to go see what he wants now,” Cristina said, rising from her chair. “And I’ll take the trash bag through the aisle one last time.”

“If he gives you any shit, I’m going to notify the captain,” Betty said. “I’m done with this douchebag.”

Pasting on her friendly flight attendant smile, she walked up the aisle. “Yes, sir, what do you need?”

“I need you to sit on my face,” he said grinning. “Just as soon as this plane lands, or even better, right now. Show these passengers how a good stewardess does her job.”

The man was inebriated. Did men really think that women wanted to hear this kind of crap?

“Sir, that’s inappropriate,” she said and reached up and turned his call button off.

He laughed. “I know. But it’s what I want and I get what I want.”

A second too late, she saw his hand reach for her skirt while she was moving.

“Stop,” she growled. “Do not touch me.”

The man’s eyes widened at her tone and the passengers around him suddenly whipped around to see what was going on.

“Until this plane lands, you are to remain in your seat,” she said and marched down the aisle. She was done with him.

A shiver went through her and she heard his drunken voice. “I promise to make it good for you as well.”

When she reached the cabin, Betty was on the phone with the captain. Evidently she’d heard what the man said and was not going to take any more from him.

As she hung up the phone, she shook her head. “Security will meet us at the gate. We’ve been moved up in the flight pattern to land as soon as possible.”

With a sigh, Cristina glanced at the passengers. The man was talking to the person next to him who had a disgusted look on his face.
