“Carter, what if something happens to her?”

“Nothing is going to happen, babe. She’s going to be fine. Georgia won’t let anything happen.”

“Okay, Zoey. I’m making the incision. Just relax.”

“It’s okay, babe. You got this.” I softly stroked her forehead. “I love you so much.”

“I love you too.” Panic filled me.

“There she is.” Georgia smiled as she lifted her out from Zoey, and we heard the beautiful sound of a cry.

We both sighed in relief.

“Dad, would you like to cut the cord?”

“Of course.” I smiled as tears filled my eyes. “She’s beautiful, Zoey.” I wiped the tears that fell down my face.

The nurse wrapped our daughter in a blanket and placed her on Zoey’s chest.

“Hi, beautiful baby girl. I’m your mommy.” Tears fell down Zoey’s cheek.

“She’s gorgeous, just like you.” I kissed her forehead. “Welcome to the world, Primrose Kind.”

“Really?” Zoey smiled as she looked at me.

“Yeah, babe.” I smiled.

“Thank God. Now I can hang the wall art I had made with her name on it.”

“I told you he’d come around.” Georgia smiled as she closed Zoey up.

“When did you tell the girls?” I asked.

“Carter, hold your daughter. She wants her daddy.”

One Month Later

I walked over to Sam while he stood on his patio, staring out at the kids playing on the beach, my brothers and Nathan surfing, and the volleyball game that was going on between Conner, Charlotte, Christian, and Charleigh.

“What are you doing just standing here?” I smiled as I held Primrose in my arms.

“Just staring at my beautiful family and feeling a little emotional.”

“Why?”

It doesn’t seem that long ago that my dad built these houses for Stefan, Sebastian, Simon, and me. Then Lily came along, and it was just us. The four brothers who made a pact never to fall in love or get into a relationship. Then I met Julia and broke that pact. Then Alex came along, Emilia, then Grace. Shaun walked into our lives as the brother we never knew we had. Julia and I had the twins, and my sister Nora was born. Jackson, Conner, and Nathan moved from San Francisco to be closer to us after Uncle Liam passed away and to open the medical center. Georgia and Charlotte came along, and then we discovered Christian, who moved here from Seattle and was reunited with his twin and two other brothers. Charleigh came along. We found out about your brothers and an uncle we never knew we had. Their wives, and now you.” He smiled. Our little stretch of the beach has grown so much, and as I stand here and look out at our huge family, I can’t help but get a little sentimental from time to time.”

“I get it, cousin. It sounds like our family has been through a lot.”

“We have, but in a good way, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world,” he said.

“Me either, Sam. Me either.”

“I’m happy I was the first one to break the pact.” He smiled.

“What are you two douchebags talking about?” Simon smiled as he walked over.

“Just reflecting on family, bro,” Sam said.
