Pulling my phone from my pocket, I sent Zoey a text.

“Good morning.”

“Morning. I wondered if I’d hear from you today.”

“Why? Do you miss me?”

“No.”

I let out a chuckle as I took a seat behind my desk.

“What are you doing?” I asked.

“I’m buried in numbers.”

“Then you must be in Heaven.”

“I am.” She sent the smile emoji.

“Good. I just wanted to say hi. Have a good day, Zoey.”

“You too, Carter.”

After the workday ended, I went home, changed my clothes, and headed to the brewhouse.

“Hey.” I smiled when I walked through the door and saw my brothers and some of my cousins standing up at the bar. “This place looks great.”

“Beer or scotch?” Sebastian asked.

“Scotch. So, Simon.” I hooked my arm around him. “Are you nervous?”

“Nervous? Nah. Boy or girl is fine with me. As long as the baby is healthy.”

“You’re such a liar.” Sebastian chuckled as he handed me my scotch.

“Bro, I’m serious. Since Nora came to live with us, another girl would be fine. There’s something about them girls that steal my heart.”

“He’s just preparing himself in case it is a girl.” Stefan laughed.

“Shut the fuck up. I am not.” He reached over and slapped the back of Stefan’s head.

“Damn, bro. Knock it off.”

Shaun walked over. “I invited Zoey. She should be here any minute. You’re welcome.” He grinned.

“Why did you invite her?”

“She called me earlier and said she has some information. I was tied up in meetings all day, so I told her to come by here first, join us, and then after, we’ll go back to the house and discuss it.”

“Shaun called and told me, so I brought the design home for her to look at,” Sam said.

“Look, there she is.” Stefan smiled. “Zoey, over here.” He held up his hand.

She walked over, looking as beautiful as ever with a smile on her face.

“Wow. This place looks great,” she said.

Conner walked over just as I introduced her to Sebastian, Jackson, Nathan, and Christian.
