“Zoey, this is my other cousin Conner. Conner, meet Zoey Morgan.”

“It’s nice to meet you, Zoey. So, I hear you’re opening a bakery.”

“I am.” She smiled.

“How are your cakes?”

“Here we go.” Simon sighed.

“They’re delicious.”

“How delicious?” he asked.

“They’re made from scratch and baked with love.”

“Love it. And the frosting?”

“Rich, creamy, and melts in your mouth.”

“Damn. Do you, by chance, make a coconut lime cake?”

“Dude, stop with all the damn cake questions,” Simon said.

“Be quiet, Simon.”

“I do make a coconut lime cake with a twist,” Zoey said.

“A twist? What’s the twist?” Conner asked.

“It’s a secret.” She smiled. “Very delicious.”

“Well, Gwen makes the best coconut lime on the planet. But you intrigue me, so I’ll have to judge myself. Any way you can make me one?” He grinned.

“I will definitely make you one when I get the chance.” She laughed.

“You’re the best. I like you already.” He pointed at her as he walked away.

“Sorry about that.” I laughed.

“I love a man who loves his sweets.”

“Well, in that case?—”

“It’s time, everyone!” Jenni shouted. “Gather around.”

We all gathered around the elongated table with the pink and blue tablecloth and the large white box that said boy or girl written across it. I could see the anticipation on Simon’s face as he stood next to Grace.

“One. Two. Three!” We all shouted as loud as we could.

Simon and Grace lifted the lid together, and several blue balloons flew up.

“YES! I TOLD YOU!” He pointed at all of us, grabbed Grace, and hugged her tight.

We all shouted and clapped, hugged, and congratulated them.
