“Me too,” Stefan said.

“Listen. I’m sure Zoey’s cakes are just as good, and Gwen will become a distant memory,” I said.

“Watch your mouth, cousin.” Conner pointed at me, and I laughed.

“She made an awesome pineapple crip this morning.”

“Excuse me?” Grayson cocked his head. “Did you say pineapple crisp?”

“Yep. She finds my love for pineapple weird.”

“I’m sure it’s not your love for pineapple, bro. I’ll bet it’s the amount of canned pineapple you keep in your panty.” Gabriel chuckled.

“Yeah, well, you should see her freezer. It’s full of pints of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. She claims she needs it when she’s stressed.”

“You two sound like a married couple.” Simon laughed.

“Watch your mouth.” I pointed at him and brought the bottle to my lips. “We’re friends.”

“You sure, bro?” Grayson asked, glancing at me.

“One hundred percent.”

“Whatever it is, it’s too late now,” Simon said. “The girls already adopted her into the family. Once they do that, you’re screwed if things go south.”

“There’s nothing to go south. We’re friends, and that’s it. Besides, she came from a really screwed-up family.”

“Who hasn’t.” Simon laughed. “I know you didn’t know your dad, but my dad trumps yours. Oh, and let’s not forget my mother.” He held his beer bottle up to Sebastian and lightly tapped his. “So, actually, none of us can talk about anyone else coming from a screwed-up family.”

“No, shit.” Nathan took a sip of his beer.

“Shh. Here comes Piper, Jenni, and Zoey,” Christian spoke.

“Hey, babe.” Gabriel held out his arms, and Piper sat on his lap. “I heard about Gwen.” He kissed the side of her head.

“It’s all good. Zoey is going to make our wedding cake.” She grinned.

“That’s very nice of you, Zoey. Thank you,” Gabriel said.

“You’re welcome. It’s what I do.” Zoey grinned. “I’m ready to go home.” She looked at me.

“Yeah, it’s late.” I stood up. “Night, everyone. I’ll see you tomorrow.” I waved.

“I had a great time today. Thank you.” Zoey smiled as I pulled up to her building.

“So did I. You didn’t tell the girls about the boat, right?”

“Of course not. I told you I wouldn’t,” I lied.

“Okay. Thank you.” I smiled as I brushed my lips against hers.

Our kiss turned passionate, and she quickly broke it, placing her hand on my chest.

“I better get inside before we can’t stop ourselves,” she said.

“Good idea. I’ll call you. Enjoy that Ben and Jerry’s.” I smiled as she climbed out.

“And you enjoy that canned pineapple because I know you’re going to go home and open a can.”
