“Conner!” Charlotte snapped.

“No offense, Zoey.” He looked at me.

“No offense taken. Trust me, Conner. Once you have my cakes, you will never want any others.”

“Okay. Coconut lime with a twist.” He pointed at me as he walked out the sliding door.

“Ignore him.” Charlotte shook her head.

“It’s fine.” I laughed. “I’m a cake snob, too.”

“No coconut lime for the boy’s cake,” Piper said. “They love white cake with a pineapple filling,” Ava said.

“Wait a second. Grayson and Gabriel love pineapple?” I asked.

“Yeah. It’s their favorite,” Piper said.

I laughed.

“What’s so funny?” Julia smiled.

“I found out this morning about Carter’s pineapple obsession.”

“You mean the obscene number of cans he keeps in his pantry?” Riley laughed when she walked into the kitchen.

“You saw those too?” I asked her.

“Yeah. I thought it was weird.” Riley made a face.

“Me too.” I held my hand up for a high five.

CHAPTER 19

Carter

“It’s a sad day for us.” Conner sighed as he sat down and twisted the cap off his beer bottle.

“Why? What happened?” Jackson asked.

“Piper just got a call from Gwen. She can’t do your wedding cake anymore.” He looked at Gabriel.

“What? Why the fuck not?”

“Her mother passed away, and apparently, she’s moving to Connecticut.”

“Ah, shit. I better go talk to Piper. I’m sure she’s upset.”

“Oh, no. She’s fine,” Conner said. “Zoey is making your wedding cake now, and Piper is as happy as a clam.”

“Thank God.” Gabriel sighed in relief.

“You look like you’re going to cry, Conner.” Simon laughed.

“Give me a minute, cousin.” He put his hand up.

“You are such a douchebag.” Jackson chuckled.

“I’m going to miss Gwen’s cakes,” Nathan spoke.
