“Says her,” Simon mumbled. “Now, where were we?” He stood up and cocked his head at Sebastian. “Or are you too scared your mommy will ground you?”

“That’s it.” Sebastian stood up and tackled Simon to the ground. We all laughed as we sipped our beer.

I tightened my arm around Zoey when the alarm went off. “Don’t move,” I said.

“I have to turn it off.” She giggled.

“Fine. Turn it off and get back here.”

She reached over to the nightstand and shut off the alarm. She snuggled her naked body into mine, and I held her tight.

“We have to get up and back to reality,” she said.

“I know.” I sighed. “Just let me have a few more minutes with my girlfriend.”

“If you insist.”

I was so relaxed and comfortable that I fell back asleep, and so did she. Our activity level was off the charts last night, and we were exhausted. My eyes flew open as the ringing sound of my phone woke me up. Grabbing it from the nightstand, I saw Shaun was calling.

“Hello.”

“I just went by your office, and Carly said she hasn’t heard from you. Do you know what time it is?”

“Not really. Oh shit!” I jumped up.

Shaun chuckled. “We have a meeting in fifteen minutes. Get here as soon as you can. I’ll stall the meeting.”

“Thanks, Shaun.”

“What time is it?” Zoey sleepily asked.

“Nine-thirty.” I threw the covers back and climbed out of bed.

“What!” Zoey exclaimed. “The sign guys are coming at nine-thirty! Fuck, Carter.” She flew out of bed.

“Exactly! That’s what got us so tired that we couldn’t get out of bed this morning,” I said. “At least you can just throw on some clothes and drive five minutes up the road. I have a meeting in fifteen minutes. You’re a bad influence on me, Morgan.”

“You’re the one who wanted to go a third round last night, Kind.” She raced to put on some pants and nearly fell on the floor. “Screw this.” She pulled a maxi dress from her bag and slipped it on.

I walked over to her and gripped her hips. “But that third time, right?” I grinned.

“Yeah. That third time was—wow.” She smiled as she kissed my lips. “I love you. I’ll see you later.”

“I love you too, babe.”

I raced into the building and to the conference room, where Shaun and Bobby Licht were waiting for me. After our meeting, Shaun placed his hand on my shoulder as we headed to our offices.

“Rough night?”

“Yeah.” I grinned. “A really rough night.”

“Been there, cousin.” He patted my shoulder and walked away.

“What if nobody comes?” I said to Carter as he placed the freshly baked cupcakes in the case. “What if I open the doors at nine a.m. and not one person walks in?”
