“Babe, people are going to come. You know all of my family will be here.”

“They’re family. They don’t count.”

He walked over and wrapped his arms around me. “Look around. When people walk by, and all this pink catches their eye, they’ll walk in.”

“Why do you keep bringing up all the pink?” I cocked my head at him. “You don’t like it?”

“I love it.” He smiled. “It’s fun. People like fun. Stop worrying.” He kissed my forehead.

“You’re right.” I turned and grabbed one of the cakes from the rack. “By the way. Yes.”

“Yes, what?”

“I’ll move in with you.” I smiled as I placed the cake in the case.

“I haven’t asked you to move in with me.” His eyes narrowed.

“You’re going to, so I’ll save you the asking.”

“And how do you know that?”

“I overheard you talking to your brothers last night.”

“You were spying on our conversation?”

“Pretty much.” I grinned. “It’s not like you were whispering, and the windows were open.”

“What if I had a special plan to ask you? What if I wanted to do it over a romantic dinner or in the middle of having sex? Now, you ruined it.”

“I can’t think of a more romantic way than right here, in my new bakery, as we’re getting ready for the grand opening.”

He grabbed my hand, pulled me close to him, and stared into my eyes.

“Zoey Morgan, will you move in with me?”

“Yes, Carter. I’ll move in with you.” A smile crossed my lips. “I’d much rather drive five minutes up the road than the thirty it takes me from my place.”

“Is that the only reason?”

“No.” I stared into his beautiful eyes. “I love you, Carter.”

“I love you too, babe.” Our lips met before he embraced me.

There was a knock on the bakery door. Looking over, Barb, Riley, and Lily stood there staring at us. I smiled as I unlocked it and let them in.

“You two are adorable.” Barb smiled. “We are ready to get to work.”

I glanced at my watch, and the door to Baked With Love would officially open in thirty minutes. Barb, Riley, and Lily took their places behind the counter. I trained them on the register last week and reviewed everything with them. I still needed to hire a couple more associates, but I wanted to wait to see how busy the bakery would be.

Walking into the kitchen, I spoke to Lila and Carrie, my two bakers who had been working with me side by side the past week to get everything baked and ready for today’s opening. They were a Godsend, and I knew I’d made the right decision hiring them.

“I wish Cara could be here.” I pouted, walking to where Carter stood.

“I know, babe. I really want to meet her.”

“It sucks she had to go and get COVID the day she was supposed to come.”

“Well, thank God she found out before she came here. That’s the last thing we’d need.” He kissed me. “My family is here.” He smiled as he walked over and unlocked the door.
