He climbed in and waited while I undressed and twisted my hair. Climbing in, he wrapped his arms tightly around me as I snuggled against his chest.

“I know it’s last minute, but I can fly Cara out here for the wedding,” he said.

“She’s at a retreat in Arizona for the next two weeks. I’ll call her tomorrow and tell her what’s happening. Maybe she can attend via Facetime or Zoom.”

“What about your mom and dad?”

“What about them?” I tilted my head back and looked up at him.

“Don’t you think you should call them and tell them we’re getting married and you’re pregnant?”

“No. My mom rarely keeps in touch, and it took two years for my dad to get in touch with me. My life isn’t any of their business.”

“Okay.” His lips pressed against the top of my head. “Everything is all set. But we do need to get up early in the morning to go to the courthouse to file for our marriage license. When we get back, the guys and I need to meet with the tailor for the tuxedos, and then the rest of the day and night will be spent celebrating the bachelor/bachelorette party.” His hands softly rubbed my belly. “I can’t believe we’re having a baby.”

“I can’t either. What do you want? A boy or girl?” I smiled.

“Honestly, it doesn’t matter to me. I just want a healthy baby.”

“Me too.”

“But I will tell you something right now, Zoey,” his tone was adamant. “You will not name our child after the Hunger Games.”

“We’ll see.” I smiled as I lightly pinched his arm.

“Ouch. I mean it.”

“Okay, Carter.”

“Your ‘okay’ isn’t convincing enough.”

“Listen.” I turned around and faced him, wrapping my legs around his waist and my arms around his neck. “We have eight months to discuss names. Right now, we need to focus on the wedding that’s happening in less than 48 hours.”

“Everything is taken care of for the wedding.” His lips pressed against mine.

“Hasn’t anyone told you that it’s not a good idea to mess with a pregnant hormonal woman?” My brow arched.

“I’m going to mess with you, future Mrs. Carter Kind.” The corners of his mouth curved upward before his lips pressed against the side of my neck. “I’m going to mess with you in this tub, and then I’m going to mess with you in bed, and there’s not a damn thing you can do about it.” His lips traveled to my breasts.

The following morning, we got up early and went to apply for our marriage license. When we returned to the hotel, Carter went off with the guys for the day, and I went with the girls. Later that night, when we all met at the hotel, Carter and I went to our suite.

“I hate that you’re leaving me.” He gripped my hips.

“I’ll be right next door.” I laughed. “You know seeing your bride before the wedding is bad luck.”

“Actually, I don’t know that. Has it ever been proven? Who the fuck even said that?”

I laughed. “Okay. It’s dumb. I won’t argue that. But, think of how special it’ll be when we see each other for the first time as we are about to become husband and wife.”

“Fine.” He sighed as he kissed my lips. “I love you so much and can’t wait to make you my wife.”

“I love you so much, too.” Our passionate kiss was interrupted by a knock on the door. “I think that’s my queue,” I said.

Carter opened the door and Grayson and Ava entered the suite.

“Are you ready?” Ava smiled.

“I am.” I grabbed my bag. “I’ll see you tomorrow at the ceremony, my love.”
