“Stunt,” she interrupted.

“Stunt competition,” Reece continued as if she hadn’t said anything. “And these guys are doing crazy shit. We kind of got hooked. You should check it out.”

He draped his arm along the back of the couch behind Eva, and I shifted my gaze to Cole who was nodding along.

“I thought we had an agreement.”

Cole laughed. “No, you issued an ultimatum, and we didn’t say anything. I was friends with her before you moved her in here. I’m not going to stop just because she has your panties in a twist.”

Eva’s lips tipped up in a smug little smile. “I love a man who thinks for himself.”

Henry made a chittering noise that sounded like agreement. Traitor. I thought we’d come to an understanding when I let her invade my shower on Wednesday, but she was staring adoringly at Cole from Eva’s lap.

Reece slid closer, toying with the pink strands in her hair. “I’m always thinking for myself. Like right now, I’m thinking if you’re free tonight?—”

“No.” I growled.

He shrugged. “No harm in trying.”

“Move. Now.” I barely gave Reece time to vacate before I claimed the spot next to Eva. Several inches closer than Reece had been sitting.

She looked at me expectantly.

“What?” I grumbled.

“Ah, there it is. I was wondering when you’d turn your one-word charm on me.”

Eva had been laughing and having fun with the others, but with me, the words caught fire. We couldn’t be near each other for more than a few minutes without clashing, and I was tired of the constant battle. Of course, that didn’t stop me from firing back.

I leaned down, close enough our noses almost touched. “I thought you weren’t interested in my charms, Princess?”

Her eyes narrowed, and the heat in them nearly scorched me. “You’re the one who interrupted us, and you’re free to leave any time.”

“This is my living room.”

“I live here too, and I was here first.” She made a shooing motion with her hand, and I grinned.

Nothing would make me move from this couch before she did. “I’m sure you can learn to share. I’m suddenly interested in learning about stunting.”

A tiny growl came out of her throat, and I desperately wanted to hear the noise again in other circumstances. “Why don’t you go take another shower? Maybe relieve some pressure and come back less of a jackass.”

I’d wondered if she could hear me, and now I had my answer. The thought of Eva listening as I jacked off took me from half-mast to hard as a rock, and I’d bet my good gloves her uneven breathing wasn’t from anger. She was as turned on as I was. Maybe next time I’d say her name out loud.

“You’re going to need to try harder if you want to scare me away.”

Her chin jutted out, tilting her face up to mine.“I’m not trying anything. I’m simply pointing out your rudeness.”

I tucked my hand under her fall of hair, stroking my thumb across the back of her neck. “I have a better use for your mouth.”

Her eyes dilated, and the air between us crackled with electricity. She didn’t move away, not a single inch. From her lap, Henry gave a disgruntled quack, and I suddenly remembered we weren’t alone in the room. Given another second, I’d have said to hell with the consequences and taken what she was offering. Why the fuck couldn’t I keep my hands off her?

The couch jostled as Reece stood from his spot. “A shower sounds good. Let me know the next time you need to study film. I have a big screen in my room we could use.”

My fingers tightened on her neck. “The hell you will,” I muttered.

Neither of us looked his way as he clomped up the stairs, but Cole got up to yank Henry away from Eva. I slid my gaze toward him without letting her go. He nailed us both with a sharp glare.

“Okay, time out. I’d rather wax my balls than be here while you two engage in whatever the hell foreplay this is. Can you behave while I’m in the room or do I need to chase after Reece?”
