“I got this,” I tell him. He turns to look at me and smirks.

“Oh, you do? Tryin’ to run from the little shit?” he teases.

“Fuck that. I still got somethin’ for him,” I tell him, making the guys laugh once more.

“You really want it?” he asks.

“Yeah, I’ll take it. Ain’t got shit else to do, and you assholes got your old ladies to deal with. I don’t have shit to do over the holidays anyway,” I tell him. He nods his head and holds out his hand to me. I shake it, knowing it’s a thank you. They want to spend the holidays with their women, and I don’t have one to spend it with anymore. It’s a win-win for everyone.

“Who is the chick anyway?” Knight asks.

“Olson Montgomery.”

“Who the hell is that?” I ask as they all turn to look at me.

“You don’t watch movies or what?” I shake my head. I don’t watch much TV, if I’m being honest.

“Hottest woman out there right now from what the media is sayin’,” Tarek adds. I shrug.

“Sounds perfect. I can trail her ass around and make sure no one fucks with her while she’s in town.”

Olson

“This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard,” I snap at Mitch, my manager.

“No, it isn’t. It’s a safety precaution, Olson.”

“No, it’s stupid. I’ll be with family.”

“And that means what? That someone couldn’t try to harm you just because you’re with family?” I sigh. I’m glad Mitch is worried about me and my safety, but I think having a bodyguard while on break is a little much. No one in my hometown is going to bother me. Why would they?

“I just think it’s a little overkill, don’t you?” I ask. I don’t want security around all the time. I don’t need it. And it’s the damn holidays! Who wants a stranger hanging around while you’re trying to enjoy the holidays?

“No. Not after the threat you received, I don’t.” I sigh once more as I lean back in my chair and nod my head. I’m famous. I’m not immune to threats these days. There’s always some kind of threat out there, but you have to decide if it’s worth the drama or ignore them, which is what we normally do anyway.

“Fine, Mitch. If it’ll make you feel better, I will use your security,” I tell him. What’s the point in arguing with him? I’m not going to win; I never do.

“Thank you. Was that so hard?” he asks as I stand and walk to him. He stands and pulls me into a hug.

“It wasn’t so hard,” I mumble under my breath. Mitch laughs and pulls back to look at me.

“I just don’t want anything to happen to you. It would kill me, and you know it,” he tells me. I know he cares about me like a sister, and I love him for that.

“Make sure my security guy is hot,” I warn him with a laugh.

“I don’t know what you consider hot,” he says, making me smile.

“Tall, muscular, tattoos,” I retort. He rolls his eyes and laughs.

“The bad boy type?”

“Who doesn’t want a bad boy?”

“Me! I don’t want a bad boy, and neither should you. There are enough scandals in Hollywood as there is. We don’t need to add to it,” he tells me. I can tell he’s serious, and there’s no way in hell I would ever get with my security, so I think we’re safe. For the most part, none of them are even close to my age. They’re all older and greying men who don’t come close to what I’m looking for in a guy.

“Noted. No, screwing the bodyguard,” I tell him as he smiles.
