Then the car takes off. Where’s he taking me? Where the hell are we going? Is he going to kill me? What does my uncle have to do with any of this?

There are too many thoughts in my head, and I can’t get them straight. The dizziness is killing me. I close my eyes and try to keep the vomit from spilling from my lips as the car takes corners too quickly.

“This will all be over soon,” he mumbles under his breath. “Then we’ll be together.” My heart hammers against my ribs at his words. What the hell is he talking about? What’s going to be over soon?

Nothing, and I mean nothing, is making sense right now. I don’t know how my uncle plays into any of this, and I’m not sure I want to know. Anger swims inside of me at the thought of him being in my house. I let him in. I know I shouldn’t have, but I did.

“Where are we going?” I risk it all and ask.

“Someplace quiet,” Gabe answers softly. I want to ask more questions, but I know I won’t get the answers I want. So, I remain quiet.

We’ve driven a while when the car finally comes to a stop. The engine dies, and I know we’re at our destination. Gabe exits the car a few seconds before my door is opened, and I’m jerked out. I can’t see a thing with this cloth over my eyes, so I follow his lead as I’m led up a few stairs.

“This is going to be fun,” Gabe says as I hear the jingle of keys. I’m ushered inside as cool air-conditioned air hits my face.

I stumble but right myself as Gabe jerks me through the room. Then I’m shoved down into a chair where my arms are tied behind my back and secured. When he’s finished that, he removes the blindfold from my eyes. I blink rapidly to clear my vision, and when it does, I gasp. Photos line every wall of the bedroom we’re in, and they are all of me.

“What the hell is wrong with you?” I scream at him. Gabe just laughs as he looks around with me, admiring his walls.

“Looks great, doesn’t it?”

“You’re sick!”

“No, I love you, Olson.”

“You don’t love me. You wouldn’t have taken me if you did,” I tell him, trying to play this game on his level.

“I told you I didn’t have a choice but to look at us. Now we can be together when this is all over.”

“When what’s all over?” I ask.

“All of this. Whatever your uncle wants. When he’s done with you, I can keep you. That was our deal,” he tells me. A chill wraps around my spine and clings to me as I listen to what he’s saying. What the hell does my uncle have to do with this? Why would he do this? And how the hell does he know Gabe?

“What does he want?” I ask softly, not sure I want the answer to that.

“You, of course. They all want you, isn’t that right, Olson?” He walks over, running his fingers along my cheek, and I try to jerk my head away. Gabe grabs my face roughly in his hands and forces me to look at him.

“He isn’t going to be as nice as me, Olson. You should learn who to trust here,” he warns, making my skin crawl. Trust him? I’ll never trust him. He may be the lesser of two evils, but I will never put trust in either of them.

He releases my face and leaves the room as I glance around, unsure of what to do now. I tug at the ropes which hold my hands behind my back, but it’s no use. I’m not going anywhere.

I wish Ridge were here.

Ridge

Ipull up outside of her house in California and sigh. It’s been a few days, but I’m still anxious as fuck to see her. It’s been a long few days.

I park the car and climb out, tugging my cut on as I go. Then I walk up to her door and knock. I expected her to be here. I expected her to be waiting for me. But the more I knock, the more I wonder. Maybe she made other plans or got held up at work. There were no security guards by the gate like she said there would be.

I run my hand through my hair and try the knob. The door isn’t locked either. She wouldn’t leave it unlocked. I know her.

I walk inside, and the scent of her surrounds me. I’m in her space once again. The place she calls home when she can’t be home. I walk through the entryway, but I don’t hear anything coming from anywhere in the house. I slide my phone out and call Cage.

“Need me already?”

“She isn’t here. Somethin’s wrong, Cage.”
