“If she doesn’t go, Gwen is going to wonder why. What’s she going to say?”

Dylan growls. “Don’t tell meyouthink she should go on the date?”

“I don’t like it, either,” Brady snaps. “But Quinn agreed, and Quinn always does what she says she’ll do.”

“He’s right,” I admit glumly. “I’m a people pleaser and Mom would think something is wrong. Are we ready to tell her about this?” I gesture between us.

“It would be better to tell them in person.” Dylan crosses his arms over his chest. “Too much can get lost during a phone call.”

Maybe we don’t have to tell them at all? Is that an option? In the core of my being, I know my mom would never disown me, but that doesn’t make the situation any easier.Hey, Mom, I’m fucking my stepbrothers...ugh. No, I can’t tell her yet.

“Fuck,” Austin mutters. “I can’t believe I’m saying this, but maybe you should go.”

Dylan nudges me. “We’ll come with.”

“Absolutely not.” I side-eye him. “You guys will lose your minds.”

“Have faith, little omega.”

I arch an eyebrow. “My faith in you keeping your hands to yourself is non-existent. You kicked your own brother’s ass when you found out he hurt me.”

He smirks. “He deserved it.”

Austin laughs.

Brady rolls his eyes. “We’ll keep our distance.”

Good to know the band is back together.

“Are you serious?”

The three of them pin me with hard looks. And when Austin says, “It’ll be fine,” I know I’m screwed. Whether I want chaperones or not, they’re coming with me.

Keepingtheir distance means sitting two tables away and directly in my line of sight. I try to ignore them, but it’s a futile effort. They have my heart and soul, and my gaze keeps straying in their direction while the pack I’m sitting with chats about their jobs. My marks and scent may be concealed, but it’s like my heart knows which direction it lies.

“So, Quinn,” George, the alpha son of my mom’s friend, snags my attention.

“Yes?”

“What are you looking for in a pack?”

Wow. That’s a loaded question for a first date. “Uh, well.” I tuck my hair behind my ear and flick my gaze toward the guys. Dylan is holding a knife and looks half murderous. Brady is covering his mouth with his hands, probably trying to hide a growl. Austin is...Austin is watching me with a smirk. The other two brothers are so focused on the alphas at my table that they’re not even seeing how drawn to them I am.

But Austin sees it.

And he knows it’s only a matter of time until I’m back where I belong.

I hold his gaze and answer the question. “I guess I’d want storm clouds over a raging ocean. A bird free of its cage. Thefeeling you get right before you jump off a cliff and into water. My alphas would feel like the midnight sky looming above you, beautifully terrifying.”

“Uh,” Fred, the only beta of the pack, chuckles nervously. “No room for a beta?”

Pulling my attention from Austin, I look at Fred. “I’ve never considered it,” I confess. Since I was sixteen years old, it’s only ever been one pack.

“Well, I’m not a sailor.” George smiles at his pack mates. “But I work in finance and we have a nice home. There’s a special room for a nest and plenty of space for kids.”

“Kids?”

He nods. “At least two.”
