“Trust me, I’m not contemplating this… I already got far more outta Cole Carson than I ever thought possible.” She wiggles the finger with her wedding band on at me and laughs, only this time her smile don’t make it past her lips. “I’m totally okay with just being an auntie. A real fuckin’ cool auntie,” she adds with a convincing nod of her head.
“I can be the one they come to when they wanna talk about sex and I make the best cookies. I can teach them how to?—”
“Evie,” I interrupt her and watch her stare at me in complete confusion.
“What?”
“Evie, it’s the name I’d pick if we have a girl,” I tell her, flicking my eyes between her and the road so I can watch her reaction.
“Don’t do that.” She points at me in warning, but she can’t disguise the excitement in her eyes.
“Don’t do what?” I laugh.
“Tease me with shit like that.” She bites her lip and I quickly pull over and cut the engine.
“I ain’t teasing.” I turn to face her and put her straight. “You're right, you're gonna be one hell of an auntie, but you’d make an even better mother.”
“Do you mean it?” Happy tears fill her eyes and the smile on her lips becomes irresistible.
“I mean it,” I tell her seriously, then laugh when she unbuckles her belt and scrambles over the seat so she’s straddling my lap. She lets off the horn before she kisses me but I don’t care, especially not when she reaches between us and starts to unbuckle my belt.
“Whatcha doin?” I chuckle at her, it’s the middle of the day and we’re parked on the side of an open road.
“I’m making sure we get started before you change your mind,” she tells me with a kinky little smirk.
“Ain’t this something you gotta plan? You’re on birth control,” I remind her.
“Not anymore,” She reaches into her bag and tosses her pill packet out the window.
“You ready for the ride of your life?” She lifts the hat off my head and places it on her own.
“Hell yeah.” I squeeze her ass and draw her closer because I’m ready. I’m ready for anything that comes our way.
