I don’t like the formality in her tone and step right up to her until our toes are touching and our bodies are almost aligned. My hand darts out and my fingers tangle in the hair at the nape of her neck. “None of that, baby girl,” I soothe her and almost beat my chest when she relaxes against me. I know she’s hurt right now more than anything. We can get past it…if she’ll let him work for her forgiveness.

I know my brother; he’ll move heaven and earth for the chance.

He’ll also never make the same mistake twice. Possibly a new one, but not the same one.

“You’ll be coming to stay with us while the building is tented,” I don’t pose it as a question because it isn’t. There is no other option.

She blinks up at me and then glances at Lachlan. “Did he tell you what he did?”

“Yes,” I admit, “and while I don’t agree with the way he went about it, I do understand the need he has to have you close.” Her lips part, but before she can say anything, I keep talking. “I’m not trying to excuse his behavior; I’m simply being honest with you. He wanted you to move in. He could have just asked. He should have. He didn’t want to give you the chance to say no. That is something I can understand, even if I don’t agree with the means he used.”

When I glance at Lachlan, he looks like someone just came by and beat his puppy. I know he’s feeling every one of my words like a blow to the gut. While I hate it for him, I need him to hear me. He didn’t consult any of us on his little plan.

If he had, we would have told him how stupid it was, and we could have come up with something else. By not sharing, he could have cost us everything. I won’t be letting it go anytime soon.

“I’m sorry, Lennon,” Lachlan whispers. It’s soft, but I know our woman hears him because her body melts against mine further even though she won’t look at him.

He’s probably so busy beating himself up that he doesn’t notice it either. I hope he doesn’t. She’ll forgive him, but he can twist in the wind for a little while.

Jordan takes very deliberate steps around our oldest brother and around to Lennon’s back. He lines his body up to hers and sandwiches her between us. The sigh she lets out has my cock thickening in my jeans, but now is not the time.

Later, I promise my cock. Not too much later either. Patience and all that bullshit.

“He could have just asked me to move in with you guys,” Lennon’s voice is muffled after burying her face against my chest.

“We know, sweetness,” Jordan murmurs against the back of her neck where he starts trailing kisses over her skin.

From the way she shivers in our arms, she more than enjoys the attention. The thought of having her writhing in pleasure between the two of us once we get her home has me pressing her further back against Jordan. She moans softly as she leans back against Jordan’s chest.

“Please come home with us, Lennon,” he whispers against the shell of her ear. I can hear the plea in his voice, and I hope she can hear it too. “We want you there. You belong with us. We have wanted you in our home for years. Please, make our dreams come true.”

Sometimes my brother can be a real sweet talker. It comes in handy when he’s working and I’m damn proud of him for using his skills right now when we need them the most. Even though we should get moving, I give Lennon the time she needs to decide.

“I’ll stay at a hotel while you’re at our house. I won’t interfere with your home or make any more decisions for you. I realized just how big I fucked up the moment I saw your face when you came into my office. You came to me because you wanted someone to vent or cry to or ask for solutions. Instead, you found the person who manipulated the situation for their own gain. It was shitty of me,” Lachlan’s voice is thick with emotion by the end of his little speech.

Lennon turns her forehead slightly against my chest so she can look at him. “Itwasshitty of you,” her voice is a gentle rasp and far nicer than my brother deserves.

It does make my heart soar though because it’s clear she wants to forgive him. She just needs a little time. And maybe some more apologies.

But even more than words, she needs his actions to prove to her she can trust him. I have zero doubt Lachlan will step up.

I gently prompt her, not wanting her to get caught up in my brother’s missteps, “What do you say, baby girl?”

Lennon’s voice is small, but there’s a little tendril of a teasing note there which tells me everything is going to be okay, “Will Jordan cook?”

“Of course,” he answers her without hesitation. Then he directs his voice toward me and Lachlan. “I’ve always told you I was the better cook. Consider this all the confirmation I’ll ever need.”

I chuckle and Lennon clings to my body a little tighter as she snuggles against me. Fuck. I love this woman.

We haven’t said the words, but it’s only because we didn’t want to scare her off. I know that I won’t be able to hold them in much longer. Not with her staying with us and being around her all the time. I can already feel the little bit of resolve I had crumbling around us.

She’s accepted us, even if she is pissed at Lachlan, and now she’ll be staying with us. I don’t plan on letting her ever come back to this place if I can help it. I won’t go so far as Lachlan did, but I’ll be giving her as many reasons to stay as I can.

“I guess I can’t pass up that kind of offer,” Lennon’s voice is quiet and resigned. “I’ll come with you.” She sighs and admits, “I hate staying in hotels.”

“Thank you, sweetness,” Jordan purrs against her back.

I take a slow step back from her, but Jordan doesn’t seem ready to let go. I get it. I want to be wrapped around our woman all the time. But that would make a lot of things in life difficult.
