Lennon’s gaze snaps to Lachlan who is staring at his feet with shame and regret rolling off him. “You aren’t staying at a hotel either, Lachlan. I won’t have you run out of your house because of me.”

Lachlan’s head snaps up and he stares at Lennon for a moment. I can see the hope on his face, but she’s quick to add, “This does not mean I forgive you, but it is your house and that means I won’t kick you out to stay at a hotel.”

He nods once, some of his hope evaporating with her words. I know she just needs a little bit of time, and effort on his part, and she’ll find her way to forgive him and move forward. He can’t see it, not yet, because he’s only focused on his fuck up.

He can stew for a little while. It won’t hurt him.

I grab two of Lennon’s bags before Jordan kisses her shoulder and picks up the other one. He can’t contain the excitement in his voice when he asks, “Is this everything?”

Lennon shrugs one shoulder. “Yeah, that’s all I’ll need for now. I don’t have much else here, but it’s too much to fit in my suitcases.”

Jordan steps closer to her before dropping his lips to hers in a quick kiss. He smiles down at her like she hung the moon and he’s not fucking wrong. He gives a nod of his head toward the door to indicate she should walk in front of him.

I almost bark out a laugh because I know he’s only doing it so he can watch her ass while she walks. I can’t say I blame him because she has one fine ass.

The thought of being buried inside of it while my brother fucks her dripping pussy has me barely stifling a groan. Yeah, it is happening as soon as I can swing it. It’s been far too long since she’s been between Jordan and me. We’re past due.

I can’t help it and watch her ass as well before Jordan steps in behind her and follows her out of the apartment. Lachlan grabs one of the bags in my hands, but he won’t meet my eyes when I look at him.

“You fucked up,” I intone.

“I know,” he mumbles, still not looking into my eyes.

“You have a chance to make it right, but I have a feeling this will be the last chance you get,” I tell him honestly.

“I think I already lost my chance,” he sounds defeated. “As long as she’s happy then I’ll be okay. If you can talk her into staying, then I’ll move in here. At least then I’ll be able to feel like I’m close to her,” he mumbles the last part, but I still hear him.

As he starts to walk out of the apartment, I step in next to him. “Don’t,” there’s a warning in my tone. “Don’t give up just yet. You might have gone about it the wrong way, but I understand why you did it. If you’re honest with her—and I mean fully honest—with her about your thinking and where your head was at, you might be surprised by her reaction.

“I don’t deserve her forgiveness,” he grumbles.

I roll my eyes because I’m not surprised at Lachlan’s reaction to Lennon’s anger and her hurt. He feels like he failed her and he’s taking it on fully while being willing to sacrifice himself because of it.

He’s always felt like he carried all the responsibility of the world on his shoulders.

I hope they’ll be able to work it out. He just needs to talk to Lennon and let her in all the way for it to happen. He can’t try and hide behind the excuses he gave himself in his head. He needs to really dig deep and show her all the scars left behind from the past.

Then, maybe, he’ll be able to heal and really move on. Here’s to hoping she’s not too rough on him and he can find a way to make it up to her.

CHAPTER 17

JORDAN

The look of surprise on Lennon’s face when we show her the true primary bedroom, which is decked out to feel like a gentle oasis and furnished with the four of us in mind, is enough to make me chuckle. I know she likes it with the way her eyes become glassy with tears. They weren’t sad tears like she had clearly been crying before we showed up at her place; these are happy tears.

Her shoulders relax as she turns toward Kemp and I as we stand in the doorway to allow her to explore. I’m not sure where Lachlan ran off to, but I have a feeling he’ll be down in the gym pushing himself until he can’t feel his legs or he throws up, whichever comes first.

I step closer to our woman and wrap an arm around her waist to pull her against my chest. “You like it?”

“It’s beautiful,” she breathes out as her eyes dart around the room some more.

“Lachlan designed the space,” I admit to her while also throwing my brother a bone. He’s aware he fucked up and I think he’ll make it up to her. I want her to know his thoughtfulness, even if it is sometimes misplaced, is what made this space possible. “He wanted it to be perfect for you.”

Lennon sags against my chest, “I know he cares about me, but I’m just pissed right now.”

Kemp presses himself against her back. “You have every right to be mad. We aren’t going to try and talk you out of it.”

She looks up at me and then over her shoulder at Kemp with her eyes narrowed in suspicion. “You aren’t?”
