“Shame, anything?” I questioned, walking over to the club’s intel officer, who sat at one of the tables with his laptop in frontof him, going over all the security tapes for any sign of who these fuckers were.

“Nothing yet, Mercy.”

“What about you, Prospect?”

“Bringing up her trackers now,” the kid said, clicking away. Taking a seat next to him, I watched his fingers fly over the keyboard while he spoke, “Gonna need a moment to pinpoint her location. She’s moving.”

“What the fuck happened here?” Montana shouted, looking around the room. “Who the fuck signed their death warrants?”

“Whoever they were, they went straight for Largo,” Pippen responded.

“Kid’s right, Prez. I watched them drag her out of here, kicking and screaming,” Shame stated factually, turning his laptop to show the video feed of that very thing. Seeing Largo fight tooth and nail to escape her captors filled me with pride and fear. Proud that my woman didn’t go easily, but fearful of what they could be doing to her.

“Shame, what about the outside surveillance cameras? Did they show anything, like what vehicle they used to get away in?”

“No. They disabled them. Cut the wires. Look, Prez, something isn’t right here. These men, whoever they are, were in and out in a matter of minutes. They were sloppy, but efficient. Fuckers came in shooting and didn’t stop until they left. If I didn’t know any better, they looked unorganized and in a rush. Then there is this. I was going over the security feeds to log them into the system when something caught my eye.”

Turning his laptop towards us, Montana and I watched the screen as Shame hit play.

It was the day I brought Largo home after finding her at Davenport Tower. She was lying in the infirmary as Bane checked her out. I could see myself clearly sitting next to her, holding her hand before Montana made me leave the room. Asthe video continued to play, I watched Bane move about the room before leaving. Then, a few minutes later, Cynic walked into the room as Largo stiffened.

“What the fuck is Cynic doing in the infirmary?” Montana asked.

“Just watch, Prez,” Shame growled.

Eyes glued to the screen, I watched as Largo observed Cynic intently, her eyes on him like a hawk. We could clearly see him talking to her but couldn’t hear what he was saying. Whatever he said made Largo jumpy as her eyes darted to the door several times.

She was nervous, scared even, and when Cynic walked over to her, she flinched, lightly shaking her head as she tried to move away from him.

“She’s scared,” Silver said, walking over with Malice. “Watch as she fidgets with the sheets. See how her hands grip the sheets tightly, almost as if she’s hoping they will protect her?”

“She’s known Cynic for years,” I stated. “What does she have to be scared of?”

“Shame, why can’t we hear what they are saying?” Montana asked.

“Because Bane refused audio surveillance in his domain. Something about patient confidentiality. He didn’t know about the other cameras I installed.”

“Hold it.” I frowned, my eyes never leaving the video. “What’s Cynic doing now?”

Everyone stopped talking and watched as Cynic inserted a needle into Largo’s IV. Panicked fear was written all over her face as she pleaded with him.

“Please, no,” Silver whispered as she focused on my wife’s face. “Please, don’t make me do this. I haven’t said a word. Just let me go. I’ll leave and never come back. Please, Cynic. Don’t.”

Shame hit the pause button as we all looked at the young woman. None of us said a word as Silver shrugged her shoulders. “What? So I can read lips. Came in handy when Petrovitch had me bound and gagged for his pleasure.”

Malice growled, stepping closer to her.

“Can you read what he is saying?” Montana asked, pulling out a chair for her to sit in as she looked up at Malice, who nodded. Taking a seat at the table, Shame pushed play on the video again.

“I need to see his face. I can’t from this angle. I can only read Largo’s lips.”

Shame typed something into his computer and seconds later, another camera view appeared. The screen split in two, giving Silver frontal views of both Largo and Cynic. “What about now?”

Silver nodded and spoke, “I warned you what would happen if you came back. All you had to do was stay gone. Now you will pay the price.”

“I never told a soul. Please don’t make me do this.”

“It’s too late now. He’ll never let you go.”
