The evil cunt smirked. “What’s funny was he was supposed to kill her and he couldn’t even do that.”

The echo of my gun bounced around the clubhouse while I watched the bitch’s head explode, splattering brain matter all over the bar and against the back wall. Turning towards the wailing woman next to Payne, I pointed my gun at her. “Talk, or you’re next.”

The sobbing woman nodded. “Cecilia was a vengeful woman. She hated everything about the Romanos. She knew Rafaello fixed it, so her husband and his whore got away. She knew he wasn’t dead. And she knew that George Stone killed Julianna and Daniel Winters to cover up the deception. She wanted what was promised to her. But when Rafaello and Maria died in that home invasion, she turned her attention to her supposedly dead husband. She hired several private detectives to find him. She thought she had them in California, but Stefano knew. Years went by without a trace, but she continued to plot and plan. When she learned that Stefano and Loraine were living in the city, she put her plan into action. Michael helped her. He believed he was denied his rightful place in the Romano family. If Rafaello married his mother, he would be the head of the family, not Renaldo. With my help, we stalked and learned everything we could about their habits.”

“It was Cynic who ran Largo’s parents off the road, wasn’t it?” Fury growled.

“Yes, sir.”

“And the man who tried to kill my wife a few months ago?”

“That was Cecilia’s cousin. I never knew his name.”

“Largo’s family survived the accident, didn’t they? Landon was hurt, but still lucid enough to go for help. That’s why the police found him outside the car,” Vicious deduced.

“Yes,” Katherine sobbed, nodding. “Michael needed to make sure they were dead. He snapped her parents’ necks, killing them instantly. Landon was harder. Even though he was hurt, he fought back.”

“But he didn’t kill him, did he?” Vicious smirked. “It was you. You were there. You killed him.”

“I didn’t mean to. He was going to kill Michael,” she muttered, tears running down her face. “I picked up a rock. I just wanted to get him off Michael.”

“Payne,” Montana growled while Payne pulled the trigger, killing her instantly.

Chapter Thirty

Mercy

Two days later,

It was late when I walked into the boardroom to find all the board members waiting. Taking my seat, Montana brought the meeting to order.

“I’ve called you all here to discuss what we’re going to do about my dad. While I don’t like the idea of killing him, according to our bylaws, that punishment is justified. I want to hear what you all think.”

“Kill him,” Malice simply said, crossing his arms over his chest. “He killed two innocents. That’s unforgivable, according to God’s law.”

“Malice, buddy,” Fury groaned. “While we all know you try to live your life according to the good book, doesn’t that make you a hypocrite? How many people have you killed?”

“They weren’t innocent.”

“Oh, so that makes it right?” Fury shot back as Malice growled.

“Enough,” Montana groaned, rolling his eyes. “We are not debating the religious ramifications of murder here. We are talking about punishing one of our own. My dad. So, can we please take this seriously?”

“What are our options, Montana?” Vicious asked. “Because I agree his actions do warrant punishment, but I’m not sure killing him is the answer, yet.”

“I vote forBlood of a Sinner. Give him the same medicine he gave Virginia and Largo,” Payne offered, speaking up.

“Storm, what do you think?”

“I don’t know, Prez,” the generally quiet brother said. “While I agree with Malice about the innocents, this is George Stone we’re talking about. A legacy brother. We have to take that into consideration.”

“It shouldn’t matter,” Malice sneered. “Doesn’t matter if he’s legacy or not. He killed two innocents. He had his own daughter tortured. She bears my mark on her back because of that sick fuck. He needs to pay for what he did.”

“And I agree with you, brother,” Storm added. “But I’m not sold on killing him. Punish, yes.”

“Happy?”

“I don’t have a right to vote on this one, Prez. I played my part in this mess, too. Because of my silence, two people paid a hefty price. Just leave me out of this one.”
