“I’ve never met the girl in my life.”

“She’s lying!” Katherine protested. “She paid me to get close to Mrs. Davenport’s brother. She wanted me to get close to Landon and tell her everything about him. Where he lived, worked, who he was dating. Everything.”

“I want to know about this son,” Renaldo stated, walking over to his aunt. “You never had children, Cecilia, so who is this mystical son you conjured up?”

“You know nothing of how I suffered at the hands of your family. My personal life is none of your business. You Romanos never cared before and don’t pretend you do now. My allegiance to your family died when my husband did. So, fuck off and leave me alone.”

“Payne,” I simply said as my brother pushed the barrel of his gun harder against Katherine’s head, who whimpered. “His name is Michael. Michael DeFerro.”

“And where is this Michael DeFerro?” Renaldo asked, walking over.

Katherine sobbed. “I don’t know. I haven’t seen him in weeks. We usually met up at the Gentlemen’s Club after my shift.”

I didn’t need to look to know that Montana was already on the phone with Illyria. When that woman took over the club, the criminal underworld made damn sure she had the latest and best in surveillance. No one could blink in that club without her security team seeing it.

“This is getting us nowhere,” Fury leaned over and whispered just when Pippen and Sypher both ran into the main room, excited.

“You’re never going to believe what we found out!” Pippen chirped enthusiastically.

“Oh, this is way better than Illyria’s secret,” Sypher stated adamantly.

“Now see, I don’t think so. What Mrs. Fedorov kept hidden was significantly more interesting. This shit is just plain fucked up.”

“True,” Sypher nodded. “But you have to admit, no one would have figured this crap out.”

“Yo! Beavis and Butt-Head, enough of the jibber jabber. What the fuck did you two find?” Montana yelled, making both young men stand at attention.

Taking the lead, Sypher simply said, “We know who tried to kill Mrs. Davenport and why Cynic raped her.”

“Boy, if you don’t talk fast,” Montana sneered, taking a step towards the Bobbsey twins.

“It’s all because of her,” Pippen quickly spewed, pointing his finger at Cecila Romano.

“Explain. Now,” I said, getting to my feet.

“Cecila Romano was never supposed to marry Stefano. Her family promised her to Rafaello Romano, but Rafaello met and fell in love with his wife, Maria, severing the contract betweenthe two families. As a consolation prize, her family forced her to marry Stefano. You all know Stefano went along with the marriage to end tensions, but only the Romano family knew he was in love with Loraine. I found an application for marriage between the two. They were about to get married when Rafaello married Maria.” Pippen said, then looked at Sypher to continue.

“Stefano agreed on one condition. That he got to keep Loraine, and that when the time was right, the family, meaning Rafaello, would find a way for them to be together. Well, that time came quicker than anyone thought, because it wasn’t long after when Loraine found out she was pregnant.”

Pippen smiled and he picked up the story. “This is where Mr. Stone comes in. Not you, Prez, the other Prez, the dad.”

“We know who the fuck you’re talking about, kid. Just get to the point!”

“Yes, sir,” Pippen gulped. “You were right. Mr. Stone knew he fathered Largo and her brother Landon. Because of the shit going on with his wife Virginia, he couldn’t bring it to the club, so he went to Rafaello. Together, they came up with the plan to ensure that everyone believed that Stefano and Loraine had died, effectively killing two birds with one stone. Stefano and Loraine got their happily ever after and no one would ever know that Mr. Stone fathered two more children.”

“Hold up,” Vicious groaned, sitting up. “Go back. Who the hell is Michael DeFerro and how does he factor into all this shit?”

Pippen and Sypher looked at each other before turning their attention to me when Pippen carefully said, “Mercy, it’s Cynic. His given name was Michael DeFerro.”

Before I could blink, I had my gun out and pointed it at Cecila Romano. “Give me a fucking reason not to pull this trigger, bitch.”

No one moved.

Not even the Romanos, who stood in shock like everyone else.

The bitch threw her head back and laughed.

“You think this is fucking funny? Your son raped my wife!”
