“Mollie?” Dean says, as he walks down the stairs towards us. He holds out his hand as he approaches, but she doesn’t take it. She already looks like she wants to leave. “You came.”

Dean steps closer to me, one hand places at the small of my back whilst the other runs through his hair.

“I know I said this was strictly business, but is he here?” Mollie asks, her eyes quickly looking at my bump as she waits for his response.

My hand automatically moves to cover it.

“No, he left, but we can talk upstairs. I’ll be there in aminute.”

She nods and starts toward the stairs.

Dean turns to me.

He opens his mouth but I speak before he does. “She a stripper?”

He grins as his hands move to either side of my face. “Old friend.”

“Old,stripper, friend?”

His face tightens, and his lips pinch together. Looking down at me, his voice is flat as he says, “Solicitor.”

My heart drops. Solicitor? “Shit, sorry. I was only joking. Is everything okay?”

“Fine.”

Of course it is.

He grins.“Just to check though, you thought at lunchtime on a Tuesday, a stripper would come to entertain me and the lads?”

My body tightens with embarrassment. “No, I—”

“I love that you got jealous,” he smirks cutting me off.

“I’m not jealous.” Just a little worried he has a solicitor showing up. “You go, I’ll leave you to your business.”

He leans forward and kisses my lips. “I’m sorry.” I’m still mad about this morning but my body melts as I lean into his kiss. “Won’t be long.”

“Okay,” is all I say, hoping he’ll give me more. When he doesn’t, I slowly turn to the bar, and he makes his way upstairs.

Just over an hour later, I walk out of the ladies’ to find Mollie now downstairs.

She’s sat at the bar looking through some sort of paperwork. I feel bad that I joked she might be a stripper. She is clearly too professional to be taking her clothes off at this hour.

“Mollie?”

She turns to look at me as I approach her. Over the rim of herglasses, she looks up at me and smiles.

“I didn’t get a chance to introduce myself earlier, I’m Madison,” I say, and she slides her glasses to the top of her head before she takes my hand in hers.

“Nice to meet you.” She smiles.

“Everything go, okay?” I pondered why Dean might have a solicitor meeting with him whilst I was waiting. He didn’t mention anything to me about needing legal advice.

“As good as it could do.” She places her glasses back on her face and turns to continue with her work.

“Can I get you a drink?” I ask.

“Tequila.”
