I scoff at her reply but when I catch her gaze, she isn’t joking. Dumfounded, I walk behind the bar and search for the bottle of white stuff. “Here.” I walk to where she’s sat, placing the bottle with a shot glass before her.

“Shame you can’t join me.” She fills the shot glass and throws it back like she really needed it. She fills it again and repeats the motion. I stand amazed, watching her with admiration for going against the norm.

“Wow,” I remark.

“Don’t judge me.”

I hold my hands up. “No judgement here.”

Mollie smiles and takes her glasses off her head before rubbing her eyes.

“Although the shots and meeting with bikers does raise a few questions.” I pull out one of the chairs and sit down across from her, hoping she doesn’t mind me joining her.

“I’m just here to help Dean.” She looks at me like I should know what she’s talking about. My face falls, and she raises a half smile, understanding that I don’t.

“Are you good at your job, Mollie?”

She checks my face, obviously realising I’m serious. I don’tknow why she’s here, but I can guess this has everything to do with Dean acting the way he is.

“Very,” she replies confidently.

I nod and pick up the bottle of tequila. “Then you deserve another.”

As I pour, heels hitting the wooden floor can be heard walking down the corridor from the building’s rear exit. I look up and see Red.

When she sees me, she rolls her eyes and saunters right past us.

“Who’s that?” Mollie asks.

“Thatisa stripper,” I say, immediately regretting my emphasis on the is.

Mollie rightly so looks confused by my comment as she attempts a fake smile, but fortunately I’m saved by the sound of the wooden doors clunking open upstairs.

As he comes down, I watch Dean walk around Mollie without looking at her. He reaches me, his whole body engulfing my breathing space. Leaning down and finding my lips, his kiss takes my breath away.

“Dean,” I say, trying to catch it. My palms flat against his chest pointlessly try to push him away. “I’m still mad at you.”

“I know.” His kiss is gentle as his fingers scrunch in my hair.

My body hums and I relax. Vivian said to let him fuck the stress out of me, or bonk as she put it. Who am I not to follow the rules and do as my boss tells me? A smile stretches in between kissing him. “Want to make it up to me?” I nod my head in the direction of the room down the hall.

“Fuck yeah, I do.” He takes my hand in his. “Mollie,” Dean says, dipping his chin towards her, his features all of a sudden sterner. “You have everything you need?”

I don’t miss her sigh. “Yes, I think I have it all.”

What are they talking about?

Dean nods again. “Thank you.”

A burly cough from behind makes us all turn around. “She can leave now.”

Without any acknowledgment, Mollie stands and puts on her coat. She grabs her things then places the paperwork in her bag. “It was lovely to meet you, Madison. Congratulations by the way.” Her eyes flick down.

“Thank you,” I say, but I can’t help looking between her and Travis. It’s clear they know each other, and judging by the way his eyes are shooting daggers at the back of her head, I’d say they have a history.

“I’ll be in touch,” Mollie says to Dean. She turns but Travis is blocking her way. The pair of them stand face to face.

Travis doesn’t move to let her past; he just stands glaring. “I’m not happy about this,” he says looking directly at Mollie, but I can tell he’s talking to Dean.
