I slam him against the wall, my hand around his throat. I don’t care how fucking big he is. My lips part, and I fight the fury within as I speak. “Don’t mistake my lack of position in here as weakness.” The heat engulfs me, my fists naturally curl tighter.

Luke simply stares at me. “Thought you were smart? Figure something out.”

“He threatens my family again, he’ll see just how fucking smart I am.” My face remains flat, my eyes holding his gaze. Luke doesn’t say anything as fear and doubt scratch away inside my brain. Not that I’d show it. I need to think fast.

“Listen. Nobody would think about crossing The Saint. He’sgot men doing all his work for him. Vincent’s lucky he’s an old friend. Without that tie, his club would be asked to take the risk. You do this, you’re good in here.”

I huff. He thinksthathighly of himself that he can pick and choose who lives or dies? No one holds that kind of power. I turn away from Luke bringing the phone up to my face. There are no other contacts on here, no nothing. I dial the digits I want to ring so desperately, but immediately delete them for the ones that will send me deeper into my darkness.

Chapter Nineteen

TRAVIS

Luckily we were sat at church when Dean rang the club burner we use. Staring at it, the boys can hear for themselves what’s going down. I’m not sure how I could have relayed all of what we're hearing.

“How many charters are we going to need to protect that cargo from being intercepted?” Beats asks.

From down the line, Dean replies, “All of them.”

The way the air leaves the room leaves me breathless. I feel a booming in my chest; my heart picking up pace. It’s not impossible to call everyone in, we just need to figure out how to facilitate it without attracting the attention of the law.

I run a hand down my face. “You sure? That’s going to bring a lot of heat.” My thumbs push either side of the bridge of my nose.

Dean’s silent as we hear other voices talking in the background. “Very least you’ll need the east coast charters. Call Sonny, he can get the other nomads on standby.”

“And the Saviours?” Skitz asks.

We hear Dean sigh. “Assume they don’t know. We tell them, they’ll assume we’re lying. We don’t tell them and somehow manage to protect the transport, they’ll owe us.”

A few heads nod in agreement. “Okay, but the firstshipment’s moving one hundred and forty-five miles. That’s a shit load of miles to chaperone something we don’t want anything to fucking do with.” I can tell by Skitz’s face he hates this.

“I agree,” Len says.

No one speaks for a moment. “We don’t have a choice,” Dean eventually admits, his voice completely devoid of emotion.

“Boss?” I say, after we’re left looking at each other around the table, waiting for him to say something—anything as to what we’re going to do.

“Take me off speaker,” he says flatly.

I pick up the phone and walk out the room. “You good, brother?” I ask him, making my way to the top of the stairs.

“Your uncle still own that farm of his?”

My head hangs low. Thinking of my relative has my insides churning. “Yes.”

“Reckon he can give us one of the vehicles? I might have a plan.”

We haven’t spoken in years. “Don’t see why not,” I reply.

“Find out then let me know on this number.”

“Okay.” Dean stays on the line, his breaths turning heavy. “Dean?”

“Why the fuck was Mads in court earlier?”

Heaven help me. I shut my eyes. “There’s no stopping that one. Had she not been in her condition, I’d have just chucked her in the car. But…” my voice trails, “she needed to see you.”

Dean sighs. “I’m entrusting you with her life, Travis. Anything happens to her—”
