“—Nothing’s going to happen to her. You have my word. You need to give me yours that you’ll look after yourself in there?”

Just when I think he’s going to say more, the line goes dead. I let my head hang, my gut feeling telling me I’m losing my president, and more importantly, my brother.

“That’s all of it.” The door to the lorry closes, the latch, locked. “You have the route locked in?” Another of Costa coffee’s minions asks me. I haven’t seen this guy before.

“Down to every last turn.”

“Good. He was very clear. No stopping. You have your man drive east without any fucking about.”

I swallow the need to knock this prick out as I nod at him.

The docks along the west coast are quiet. At three in the morning, the only people here are the Saviours, my brothers, and Costa’s man.

Beats, The Joker and Skitz take off their gloves having offloaded a dozen large wooden crates into the back of the lorry. Skitz in particular looks exhausted.

I look at him as he wipes his brow. “What is it?”

“Them,” he says, pointing at the lorry. “Them fucking boxes weigh a tonne. You sure we’re not ferrying rockets rather than just guns?”

Costa’s man stops in his tracks having checked the shutters are locked. I notice him padlock it.Fuck. “Just guns?” His eyes roam over all of us individually. “Let me make this real simple and clear for you, gentlemen. Thesejust gunsdon’t arrive on time, your club owes us the total value of the contents.”

“Which is?” I ask.

He grins wickedly. “More than you can afford, sweetheart.”

Turning, he makes his way to Vincent and the other Saviours who helped load up the lorry. I call him a cunt under my breath as I feel the phone vibrate from inside my cut. I check no one’s looking as I step around the lorry out of sight.

Unknown number: Everything set?

Me: We’re good

Unknown number: Let me know when it’s done

I don’t hit reply to Dean. I stow away the phone, then grab my own. The guys have all checked in. Everyone’s in place. Fuck, I wish Dean was here. No time to dwell though. Now’s the time to execute his plan.

Costa’s man hands The Joker the keys.

I give him the eye signifying everything’s set.

He climbs in, and Beats does too. “Call me if there’re any problems.”

I assume Costa’s minion is talking to me. I turn and see Vincent mounting his bike. “What’s going on?” I ask looking back at him.

“They’re going with you.” He doesn’t say anything more. He turns, climbs into the car he arrived in, then drives off.Shit.How the fuck are we to switch lorries if Vincent and Billy are here? This wasn’t part of our plan or our agreement.

Billy gets in the lorry besides Beats. Vincent’s engine starts.

The Joker’s wide eyes catch mine, peering from his side mirror. He checks my expression wanting to know what to do. There’s fuck all wecando. We’ll have to carry on as planned.

I nod again at him, then climb on my bike, putting on my helmet. “You knew you were coming with us?” I shout to Vincent.

“Not until just now,” he says with a shake of his head.

I can’t tell if he’s lying or telling the truth. My palms are sweating as I bring my engine to life.

We head east on faster roads enabling us to move the cargo quicker. The Rippers are well spread along the route placed at check points. Each point will call the next until the cargo arrives at the port. Fuck knows how I’ll handle Vincent and Billy now that they’re with us, but the plan is to stop, switch the lorries, and move the cargo.

Half an hour into the journey, my phone rings. Our signal lets me know it’s Len up ahead. They’re set.
