“Fine,” she huffed. “Things got out of hand and I . . . I punched her in the face. But I don’t think I broke her nose.”

She did what?

Anger boiled in my bloodless veins.

Earlier, I had felt an outburst of anger and a flash of pain from my mate. Now I knew what—or ratherwho—had caused it.

“Holy fuck!” Fallon cried out. Bony knees struck the floor—one falling quickly after the other. “I am so sorry.”

Folkoln chuckled. “See? Just as I said. He can hear us.”

Fallon didn’t reply, too busy groveling beside me. Her words fell on deaf ears. Not because I didn’t care about her useless apologies—well, actually I didn’t care—but because I could feel my brother latching on to the tasty meal I was currently serving him. I cut the tether to my anger.

He let out a sigh. “Well, that was short-lived. Anyway, tell him what else you told me.”

I waited.

“That the God of Life removed her collar?” she asked, somewhat unsure.

“Bingo.”

Of course, the prick had removed it.

And as always, he was as predictable as ever.

Despite how I made it appear when I planted the idea that Sage should ask Aurelius to remove it, I knew he wouldn’t say no. If he did, it would make it look like he didn’t trust her and that would be damaging to his princely charade.

So, he’d agreed.

Just like I knew he would.

Now that the iron collar was gone, Sage could harness her powers if she needed to. At least she wouldn’t be completely unprotected.

Still, worry plagued me.

“Is he still angry with me?” Fallon asked my brother.

“Hard to say.” A cork popped.

Fallon let out an aggravated groan.

The bottle glugged, paused, and then resumed. After, glass chattered against cement.

“Have a drink, Little Bird. It will ease your nerves.” The smirk he wore saturated his words.

“Alright,” she said, soft fingertips whispering against the glass. She took a sip.

“Earlier, you mentioned you wanted to speak to me about something. What is it?” Folkoln asked as he took the remaining cup from beside my head—the jackass.

“The Blade of Moram—”

He cut her off. “We’ve already discussed that.”

“You barely told me anything about it.”

“I have my reasons.” Two gulps were all it took for him to down his glass—that fucker had a big mouth. Much like my own.

“But if it can help Von—”
