"Do you guys like animals?" Elijah began, his voice holding an enticing note of mystery.

"We just heard about a cat that's an interior design enthusiast and a daddy gatekeeper, I think we can handle more," Mike quipped, sending a wave of chuckles.

“Have you seen the documentary on Koko, the gorilla that is fluent in sign language?” Elijah asked.

“Of course,” Mike said. “It was so fascinating.”

"Well then, I think you'll enjoy hearing about Samson. He's my gorilla."

Our corner fell silent, our eyes growing wide as saucers. "Your... gorilla?" I stammered, disbelief edging into my voice.

"Yes, my gorilla," Elijah confirmed with a soft chuckle. "And not just any gorilla, mind you. Samson is fluent in advanced sign language, just like Koko."

For a moment, the only sound was the steady hum of the air conditioner. Then Mike broke the silence. "Alright, you've got our attention."

With an impish grin, Elijah started demonstrating a few signs for us, his hands moving deftly to convey various messages. "This," he gestured, "is 'eat'. This is 'play'. And this is, well, 'pizza'."

"Pizza?" Mike and I echoed in unison, exchanging quizzical looks.

"Pizza!" Elijah reiterated, his voice thick with suppressed laughter. "You see, once I was on a video call with our local pizza joint, ordering dinner. Samson was watching and, as it turns out, learning."

"You're not saying..." I started, my eyes widening in anticipation.

"I made Samson order a pizza when I learnt they were fluent in sign language!" Elijah burst out, his laughter echoing around the room. "When the pizza delivery guy arrived, they found themselves face to face with Samson. You should have seen the look on his face!"

We erupted into laughter, our imaginations running wild with the hilarious mental image. Elijah mimicked the smug expression of a gorilla satisfied with a successful pizza order, adding fuel to our laughter.

"Elijah," Mike gasped between chuckles, "I need to meet Samson! We could cause so much chaos together!"

"Perhaps, one day," Elijah replied, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "Subject to my Daddies' approval, of course."

"I've always wanted a pet of my own," I confessed softly, a wistful sigh escaping my lips. "I grew up in a household that wasn't too fond of animals. But I've always longed for the companionship they provide."

Mike's vibrant eyes held a hint of understanding. "There's something so therapeutic about them, isn't there? They just know how to make you feel loved, unconditionally."

My lips curled into a smile as I looked at him. "Exactly. There's just this warm bond, so pure and untainted."

"And fun!" Elijah chimed in, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "They bring so much joy into our lives, even with their silliness."

"I remember this one time," Mike started, a grin slowly spreading on his face, "Bubbles found my stash of sticker books. I returned from the store to find my whole apartment covered in stickers. There were stars and unicorns on the walls... it was absolute chaos, but I couldn't stop laughing!"

"And Samson," Elijah reminisced with a soft sigh, "despite his size, he can be such a baby. He once sulked for an entire day because I didn't let him have an extra serving of dessert. My Daddies had to coax him with his favorite toy."

A warm rush of affection flooded through me as they shared their stories, their faces lighting up with pure joy and love for their pets. Their words painted colorful images in my mind, making me yearn for a pet even more.

"Well," I declared, the resolve ringing clear in my voice, "I'm going to get myself a pet. I don't know what, I don't know when, but I'm sure of it."

Their faces mirrored my excitement, their wide grins matching my own. "That's the spirit!" Mike cheered, clapping his hands together.

"Yes," Elijah echoed, his eyes warm, "I can't wait to hear your own pet tales."

“What if we had a pet playdate?” Mike said with a giggle. “Bubbles and Samson could meet, and Lina, you could bring your future pet."

The idea of a pet playdate, inspired by my expressed longing and the amusing escapades of Bubbles and Samson, stirred a sense of shared excitement amongst us.

"You know, Lina," Mike started, his eyes glinting with mischief, "I can think of some potential pets for you. How about a flamingo? You could call it Fluffy."

I couldn't help but chuckle. "Fluffy the flamingo? That's just absurd!"
