Nolen and Sawyer walked to the packhouse along with the other wolves. The wolf that Nolen had called Daylen stayed behind, watching as the warriors took the wolves that had surrendered to the dungeons.

“What’s up, Fin?”

I turned to Markus’ voice and then nodded to the wolf in front of me.

“I’m not too sure about that Rhyolite wolf. He’s acting differently. We need to keep an eye on him. He’s up to something.” He turned and spotted me watching him. The wolf quickly turned and headed for the packhouse. Yes, run you slimy bastard. Because I have my eye on you.

Looks like we will be sleeping outside tonight, Aloysius.

Yep. He isn’t going to get by us. The snarl from my wolf brought a smile to my lips. He was always up for a battle.

I shifted to Aloysius and laid at the edge of the woods. It was a little harder to hide since we were white. Where we were, I could see the front of the dungeons. I had learned that there was no backdoor so if he wanted to get to the wolves inside, he would have to go through the front door. The night was quiet other than the cicadas chirping and an owl hooted from somewhere further in the woods. Luckily, there was no wind right now to let anyone know that I was here. Guarding the dungeon from the outside.

The guards were inside the door so he would have to overpower them to get to the cells below, but I was here to make sure he didn’t even get in the door. As much as I was tired from running to get here and then fighting the rest of the night and most of the day, I forced myself to stay awake.

Laying there for hours, I continued my watch, waiting for him to come. I normally had a good sense of people and he seemed like bad news.

“What are we waiting for, Fin?”

My eyes snapped to my left side and landed on the Moon Goddess sitting there with me. Being in wolf form, I didn’t know if I could actually communicate with her. She softly laughed, bringing my gaze completely to her.

“I can talk with you either way, Fin. Now tell me, what are we waiting for?”

You want me to believe that the all-knowing Moon Goddess doesn’t know? I quipped as I rolled my eyes.

“I do know. But I thought it would be fun to see if you would tell me. So? Why are you so keen on stopping this wolf?” She asked me with a giggle. She acted like she hadn’t even fucked my life up.

Because he is up to something and we are trying to keep this from being as bloody as possible.

“Ah yes. What are you going to do about your uncle?” Selene’s silver eyes held my blues as I stared back at her. That was a loaded question.

“I’m going to destroy him. That’s what I’m going to do. Limb from limb.” I snarled, showing my fangs. Selene nodded as she stared at the front doors to the dungeons.

“You would want to do that. But that isn’t your task in this upcoming battle. That falls to Nolen.”

I cocked my head at her answer. No, he took Kalila away from me. She couldn’t take this away from me.

“I know you want to be the one to end him. But that isn’t your task. You need to help sway the young alphas to allow Dolostone to join them. Because you know that all of them are not as bad as some of the others.” Her hand glided through my white fur as I stared at her. “Look, it seems that you were right about this one. Farewell.”

The Rhyolite wolf made his way to the door. Before I stood, I needed to make sure that he was going to the dungeons. He reached for the knob and opened it. I didn’t want to burst in there and make them think I was the one attempting to do anything to help him.

Sounds of fighting came from inside of the building and I sprang into action. As soon as I reached the door, it burst open as a guard was thrown out. Leaping over him, I crashed into the Rhyolite wolf, pinning him to the ground as I sunk my teeth into his arm and drug him out of the small room.

More wolves ran up to us and the two guards came up to me. The sun was starting to climb in the sky when I released him. Turning my head, I spotted Sawyer in the circle with me. I shifted just before he reached me.

“Why are you out here? Did you have anything to do with this?” For someone as young as he was, he had the Alpha voice down pat.

“No, Alpha Sawyer. I had noticed that he was acting strange after the battle. Plus, he wasn’t as skinny as the other wolves in Alpha Nolen’s pack.” I lowered my head in respect before bringing my eyes back to him. He had offered me a room so I knew the reason why he was suspicious of me being out here. So I offered an explanation and hoped that he would understand. “I’ve been living the past ten years as a rogue. The bed was just too soft. But I thank you for your hospitality.”

I could tell he was mulling what I told him over. He nodded and relaxed his stance. “I found that to be suspect, too. Come with me. We’ll tell Nolen together.”

“All due respect, Alpha Sawyer. I think it would be wise to tell him that your guards caught him. Which they did. I just made sure that they got him.” I answered him. I didn’t know how much Nolen actually trusted me.

“Okay. Thank you for protecting mine and Nolen’s pack. This could’ve turned bad.” Sawyer inclined his head and turned. The guards dragged the bleeding wolf to the packhouse behind their alpha and nodded to me.

The other wolves dispersed, leaving me naked for the rest of the pack to see me. Shifting back, I lopped in through the woods back to the spot I had chosen to sleep. I wasn’t lying when I told Sawyer that it felt wrong sleeping in a bed. Being rogue for so long has its disadvantages. But it was better than losing your life, right?

“Fin! Fin. Wake up, we have to get to the front of the packhouse.” Opening my eyes, Hannah came into view. I stretched and stood as I shook out my fur. Hannah held out some shorts to me and her eyebrow curved. I shifted quickly and turned to pull up my shorts.
