A door behind me opened and I could feel the entire room go still. The only person I could think it would be was Alpha Roy. Turning, I spotted Jade and Harmony in the doorway. I turned back around and motioned for the others to continue their work.

“Is there something I can do for you?” I could see them in the floor-length mirror. They glanced at each other before Harmony nodded to her friend.

Jade took a step forward and took a deep breath. She bowed her head before bringing her gaze back up to mine. “Nikita, I’m sorry about not just coming to you about what I heard and then announcing it to the pack like I did. I hope that after this ceremony and maybe even after this apology that we can be friends?”

“Jade, I have no problems with you. But things will have to change a lot. I won’t sit and deal with this bullshit again. I don’t normally give people a chance like I am you.” I answered her as I stared at her with unblinking eyes.

Jade lowered her eyes from mine and then kneeled. Which surprised me for a moment.

“Get up Jade. You don’t have to kneel. I’m no queen. All I want is peace between us and have a nice quiet life.”

Jade stood up and then bowed her head before turning and heading out the door with Harmony. I wonder who told her to come in here and do that? It could only be either Fin or Harlen. At this point, I didn’t care because I still needed to calm myself.

Tonight I would become Luna of the Dolostone pack.

Chapter Twenty-Six

Nikita

The woods had been decorated and lighted up along the sides of the trail. I walked barefoot in my dress to the hidden waterfall. From what I had seen of Luna ceremonies, each she-wolf that took the Luna position had always been barefoot to be closer to our roots. Taking a deep breath, I came into the clearing with the pack and the waterfall.

I glanced up and spotted the most amazing thing I had ever seen in my life. The moon had a blue tint to it, but what got me was the kaleidoscopes of color that encircled the moon. It looked like a circular rainbow. I stared at the scene for so long that I felt a nudge at my side.

Turning my gaze down, I spotted Tobey. He took my hand and led me forward to the makeshift stage. I had seen only one Luna ceremony and most of the time, a mated male of the female’s pack takes her down. But since I didn’t have a parent or anyone there, I chose Tobey. Fin and one of the elders were standing on the stage. Alpha Roy and Luna Adia were in the front, along with the two Alphas that Fin had become friends with when he was a rogue. I think he put them near him so that if he decided anything, then they would be able to help.

Both of them were big wolves and complete opposites. I had yet to meet them personally but they both looked scary. I mean, I’m pretty sure that I could take them, but I didn’t want to find out right now. Fin had said that they were nice, so I would be taking him for his word.

Fin came to the steps and helped me up them and to the middle of the wooden structure. He kissed me before handing me over to the elder. The moon’s glow made it look like I had a spotlight on myself for the ceremony. I glanced over the crowd and spotted Bella, who had tears in her eyes.

The elder turned to me with the knife in his hands. I took a deep breath and held out my hand. Fin’s body closed me in and his hand came parallel with mine. I glanced up at him and he held my gaze just as the elder slashed into both of our hands. He then began to speak in the old language that wasn’t taught to anyone unless they were going to be elders. But the wolves that we connected with knew what he was saying and the shiver that ran down my body was like someone had dumped cold water on me.

My hand stung as Fin clasped his with mine and if Fin hadn’t been behind me, then I’d have been on my ass. The snap of the pack mindlink hit me and my head flung back into Fin’s chest. All the voices taking precedence in my head. My breathing and heart rate increased as I tried to put my thoughts to the front of my mind.

Nikita, I’m glad that you have chosen to be Luna of the Dolostone pack. Your destiny has just begun and I look forward to seeing you flourish along with the pack. I hope you liked your gift tonight! Speak to you soon.

The voice in my head was nothing like anything I had ever heard before. It drowned out the others from my new pack. But was similar to someone I had met. Could she really be the person in my head? I had never heard of someone seeing or hearing the Moon Goddess.

Nikita, are you ok?Fin’s voice came into my head. I tried to remove my hand from his, but it was like my hand was glued to his.

My heart is running out of my chest. I never expected all these voices. Even my inner voice sounded breathless to me. And let’s not talk about the desire that seemed to increase as our hands stayed connected.

It will all be over in a minute, feisty wolf. You’re such a good girl. Such a strong Luna. Fin’s praise sent my desire into overdrive. I needed him now, and this was taking forever.

Just as I thought I was going to die, everything snapped back. It was quiet in my head and Enyo sat in my mind, tilting her head back and forth. The sound of the waterfall came back to me, but everything else was quiet.

Glancing around, I realized I had been lowered to the floor of the stage. Fin was beside me, petting my head as he held me close to him. I reached up to his face as if seeing it for the first time. Was he always so handsome? I mean, hell he was, but damn, it was like the moon rainbow was making him even more gorgeous.

“Fin. What just happened?”

Fin glanced up at the elder, and he stood with me in his arms.

Luna, you have been given a special gift. The Moon Goddess Selene has bestowed on you with a rare sight. There haven’t been many Luna ceremonies that have had the Lunar Halo. You and Alpha Fin have a greater destiny in this life. The power that you both share is one that hasn’t been seen in years.

Dolostone pack meet your Luna! Luna Nikita!

Their shouts in my head were more subdued than it had been when I became one with them. A lot of them were surprised by the elder’s declaration. Because he didn’t just speak with me but to the whole pack.

When Fin walked by them, they each kneeled on one knee. Jade and Harmony stayed on both knees as Fin strolled by with me in his arms. I was content with him carrying me because there was no way that I would’ve been able to walk right now. My legs were jelly, and I felt like I wasn’t actually in my body.
