“I’ll have to tell my father too.”

“Go ahead, call your dad. I’ll let my dad and mom know to meet us in my office.” She nodded again and slid off the counter, heading into the bedroom. I watched as she left, that beautiful ass sashaying in front of me. Before searching for my dad in our mind link.

Dad, I need you and mom in my office at lunch. You and her only.

Sure, son. Is everything okay? The worry in his link pressed to mine.

Yes, dad. Just need to talk to you and mom.I chuckled as I replaced the towel on the bar.

As you wish.It was unnerving when he said things like this but that was what he wanted so I didn’t worry too much about it.

I cut the link and began my morning routine. Heading back out of the bathroom, I went into the closet and pulled out some jeans and a T-shirt. Slipping on my shoes, I exited the bedroom I shared with Kalila. Descending the mahogany wood stairs, I felt even lighter as I reached the bottom. Wolves were heading to their jobs within the pack and bowed their head as I passed.

Entering the large kitchen, I followed the delicious scent of banana pancakes. A stack of them sat on the large marble island, waiting for the incoming patrols. No one would notice if one was gone, right? I grabbed one quickly and headed back out to the front of the packhouse. A giggle sounded out behind me. Which brought a smile to my lips. Everyone was having a wonderful day.

Rolling up the cooked batter before taking a bite out of the sweet dough, I strolled down to the training fields. Pups in training were wrestling and fighting, trying to over-match their opponents. Starting them a little young was my dad’s doing, and I felt that it was a good thing for pups to get their energy out. At least it gave them something to do other than sitting in front of a screen fighting with fictional characters. Besides, I was one of the first to start young like these pups here. There’s no reason why they couldn’t do the same.

When I became Alpha, I allowed the girls to join in the training if they wanted. Some of the girls did, and they didn’t back down from the boys. They fought tooth and nail to be just like their male peers. A couple of the girls were even better than some of the boys, and I chuckled at that. No one would be able to tell me that girls couldn’t protect themselves if they really wanted to.

I continued to watch them as Sydnie came from behind me and ran down the steps to her little friend from school. She was always excited to be able to play with others, and I could tell that she would be one little girl to watch in the training ring. Harlen didn’t baby her much. He taught her to be independent, but she was his baby girl, and he would kill someone if they hurt her. I would too for that matter, I would give my life for anyone in this pack.

Making my way down to the patrol house, I noticed that some of last night’s patrols were coming in. I spotted Zac as he bumped fists with another warrior around his size. He and I used to be friends in school, but when he found his mate, he never really had time for our other friends or me. Zac had a full house with all the pups he and his mate had. I would really like that one day. In a way I envied him.

“Alpha, you’re up early.” One of the deltas, named Grant, approached me as the morning patrol wolves headed out. These wolves were in top form as they raced to the territory line. They ran most of the day keeping an eye on the territory lines.

“Yeah, just came down to check up. My uncle hasn’t been making a nuisance of himself anymore, has he?” I glanced around to see if any of the other leaders were here today.

“No, sir. He hasn’t been back down yet. I do have to report that we did sight a rogue last night. He barely got away. But he is fast.” The flicker of the wolf’s eyes told me that he was upset that the rogue was able to get away from him and his team.

“Thanks. Keep a heads up and report anything else that might be worrisome.”

“Yes, Alpha.” Grant turned and headed into the packhouse to grab some breakfast. Everything was like it should be. Beautiful sunny day, the breeze blowing, keeping it at just the right temperature.

Once Kalila was further along, we would tell the entire pack. Granted, the ones near her the most would notice the change in her scent. But right now, only our parents need to know. I continued down into our little town. I used to run through this place as a child with my friends, and one day, so would my little one. The stone roadway under its feet as it raced to the ice cream shop or the candy store and then he or she would be in training.

Female she-wolves were talking to each other, holding newly born pups against them. Some feeding them, others showing them off to the others. Everywhere I looked, I saw females either with pup or recently born pups. I spotted Bella lugging some bags up the sidewalk and went to help her. She didn’t need to be carrying that much.

“Alpha! You don’t have to do that.” Her breathlessness told me that yes, I needed to. She was starting to show.

“Don’t worry, Bella. How are you feeling?” I chuckled as I threw them over my shoulder.

“I’m doing fine, Alpha, thank you. It’s been a long time since I saw you in the streets at this time of day.” She giggled as she glanced up at me. Bella was one she-wolf besides Kalila. I allowed them to make eye contact with me.

“Good. Yes it has, I have been away from the town for far too long.” We walked back up to the pack house in silence. The sun was high in the sky, meaning lunch was getting nearer and that meant that I would be telling my parents that they would be grandparents.

“Alpha, are you okay?” I glanced down at Bella. She gave me her ‘there’s something you’re hiding and aren’t telling me’ looks. I chuckled as I opened the door to the packhouse.

“Yes, Bella. Just have to talk to the parents today.”

Bella placed her hand on my forearm and smiled. “You will do fine. Whatever you have to tell them, everything will be okay.”

I nodded, and she took the bags I had in my hands and headed for her and Harlen’s room. Harlen was lucky to find this woman. She was definitely his other half.

Continuing my way down the recently painted hallway to my office, I noticed the doors were cracked, and my mother’s voice floated out to me. Pushing my way into the room, they became quiet when they spotted me.

Kalila was sitting on the couch, and my mother sat with her. Holding her hands on her knees. My dad stood by the window, which had also become my habit when I became Alpha. The only thing I could think of why we did it was because we spent so much time here and not with the pack.

I closed the door behind me and walked up to the front of the desk. Leaning up against the furniture, I reached out my hand to Kalila. Untangling her hands from my mother. She came up to me and stood by my side. A worried smile on her face. “Can you come sit down, father?”
