THAT MOMMY! THE WAY HE SAYS MOMMY!

“Please, Mommy,” Niel begged as he put his hands together and Nate pouted as he tilted his head.

“Say that you’ll both come.” Nate smirked and I sighed as I shook my head. “I’m begging you, Mommy.”

“Fine! He can go,” I blurted out, tired of hearing the word Mommy from Nate.Fuck. “But, I need to check if my parents can come as well.”

“It’s okay, Mommy. We’ll get the best seats in the game and Papa likes watching the game!” Niel sealed the deal and I just knew I had lost any chance of changing my mind.

“Thank you,Mommy,” Nate spoke softly as he cupped his cheek and his lips lifted in a charming smirk as he stared at me unashamed.

That little big prick!

Chapter 7

Avery

The arena was bustling with fans and it was quite loud as I directed my parents and my son to the seats that Nate prepared.

After their strategy meeting before disappearing off with Brian—which saddened me—he pushed the tickets into my hands, winking as I stared at him shocked. Brian was surprised by his actions and Nate explained that he had met Niel, who begged him to get them the best seats in the game because he wanted to watch his uncle and new friend play in the season.

After his clearlythought-offexplanation, the two disappeared and left me alone. I was bummed because the whole day I was looking forward to having a conversation with Nate about absolutely anything. I wanted his attention and I just craved simple interactions, but for longer periods.

And I didn’t get any and I was heavily disappointed.

“Yay!” Niel squealed, slightly jumping in my father’s arms. A small smile grew on my face as I turned to face him with a wide grin on his face.

His head was covered in the orange beanie his uncle had gotten for him with his initials and jersey number, a beige scarf was wrapped around his neck to keep him warm and his black tracksuit and white sneakers completed the stylish look.

Of course, my mother had to match with him because he was her first grandbaby and her favorite man, which made my father terribly jealous at times.

“Your seats are right here.” I pointed to the center seats in the lower bowl and my ears were graced with Niel’s squeals again as they sat down. It was his first time at a live game and it was also my first time in a long time, I could understand his excitement.

I had no idea what to expect, but I was also excited to see the boys play to their heart’s content. I also thought it would be thrilling to watch Nate play seriously like how I remembered him too.

During practice he was laid back and would let them get past him, claiming he didn’t see them come. At first, I thought they would be offended by him being so laid back, but that was until I realized the trust they all had in each other.

Whether Nate was serious or relaxed, they somehow always believed that he would show up and give the opposing team a hard time.

“Will you be working the whole time?” my mom asked as she settled in comfortably while I made sure Niel was sitting safely in his seat. I looked up at her after I finished fixing his scarf and shrugged.

“I hope not, I’d also like to enjoy the game,” I answered honestly. I may not have always been a huge fan of sports, but I was oncea die-hard fan of Nate Gallagher and my whole world revolved around him and in knowing everything he loved.

So I thought the only way to impress him at that time was with my unfailing devotion and knowledge of ice hockey.

“I’ll come to check up on you guys occasionally,” I pressed a long kiss on Niel’s cheek and he giggled as he pushed me away. “Love you, Bubba,” I said and kissed him once again.

“Love you too.” He covered his mouth with his hands and I kissed him once more just for satisfaction. As much as I didn’t really enjoy my pregnancy, Nathaniel really was my blessing and joy.

Nate camewayafter my son.

“Call me if you need anything,” I told my parents as I got up and my mother rolled her eyes. “I know you’re not kids, but just so that I can feel like I’m doing something, okay?” I reasoned with her as I kissed her cheek, and kissed my father’s cheek as well.

I wasn’t the rich sibling who could provide them with absolutely anything they needed at any time, and I wasn’t the sibling that was famous and known worldwide. I was the sibling who brought a baby while she was still in college and became a single mother pretending to not know who the father of her baby was.

I was the disappointment, and even though they wouldn’t admit it at the time because they loved me, I could see how hurt they were that their baby girl got pregnant so young.

“Fine,” she groaned as she waved her hands and I walked away from them, first heading to the team’s waiting room to get a few shots of them for our social pages. Whether they lostor wontonight, I would have a lot of work to do right after the game.
