“Who’s Papa?” I asked confused. Was the father perhaps in their lives and I was overstepping my boundaries right now?

“My dad,” Avery answered, and I blew out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding.

Thank fuck, I thought she was still involved with her ex.

“And you’re right, Niel. You look more like Papa than Nate.” She nodded and I pretended to be hurt by clutching my chest.

“Are you saying I’m not handsome?” Avery rolled her eyes as she leaned back on her panda bear, pushing out her chest as she pursed her lips, checking me, she hummed. “You have to think about it first?” I asked shocked and she shrugged.

“You’re alright on the eye,” she squeaked and my mouth hung open as I looked at her serious expression.

“Just alright?”

“Do you think you’re more than that?” she asked as she licked her lips and my eyes watched as her tongue darted out and licked the corner of her mouth. I gulped as my eyes took in her neck,it wasn’t too long nor was it too short. It was the perfect length, and I just knew her skin was extremely soft.

All that was missing on her neck were soft bites that came from my lips.

“Well, I’ve been told I am more than that. A few provocative names that I won’t say in front of Niel, but yes. I think I am extremely more than that!”

“Hmm.” She shrugged as she picked up another strawberry and her plump lips wrapped around the fruit as she took a small bite. I watched as the juice rolled off her lips and her tongue quickly lapped the juice up.

Shit, I’m a pervert.Such an innocent action and here I was thinking of the ways I would like to bend her over my sofa at home.

“What would you say about me?” she asked and I unashamedly took her whole body in for the umpteenth time today.

Her jeans sat snuggly around her curves, and her boobs filled out her shirt extremely well. Her gorgeous blonde hair was in loose waves that reached her back. And it was no secret that I loved every part of her, Avery was fucking beautiful and I had fallen for her in the short time I had been a nuisance to her.

I couldn’t help but think of her in each and every way, think about what it would be like when we started dating, all the trips we would take. Which house we’d both choose to sleep over at and how much we’d love being in each other’s arms after long days at work.

I wanted to do everything I had never done with any other woman with Avery. I wanted to call her every day and hear hervoice. I wanted her to send me pictures of absolutely anything, the pictures she thought she looked cute, gorgeous, hot, and even cringe in. I wanted every part of her because I thought she was amazing.

She was captivating, alluring, and enchanting. All these words might have meant the same thing but every moment with her felt magical, as if it were unreal.

“You’re mesmerizing. It’s hard to take my eyes off of you, Avery.”

Chapter 9

Avery

I helped my mother finish setting up the table for our Sunday brunch while my father, Brian, and Niel sat in the living room watching a baseball game together. My mother never allowed them to help with setting up the table when I was growing up, but they always had clean-up duty and I was grateful for that rule.

I felt like it worked in my favor.

Sometimes my mother would go overboard with the food preparations and wanted to explore, which meant more work for me; thewashing, dicing, stirring, tasting, andstandingover the steaming pots for hours would have me feeling as if I had just run a marathon with no rest and as good as the food was, I hated it.

My mother would call it our bonding time since I was a fan of my father more than her. I preferred my dad over her any day. He wasn’t crazy.

Luckily for us today, she didn’t feel like beingexplorativeand went for a simple balanced meal for us. Brian loved meat, but mymother didn’t cater to that preference today and I could already see him brooding throughout the whole dinner.

Hehe.

“Boys! Come eat,” my mother yelled as she placed the salad in the middle of the table while I washed my hands. Their thuds vibrated throughout the whole house and my mother groaned.

She hated it whenever they ran inside the house because they were quite big men and she had an irrational fear that the house might fall down on them one day.

My dad sat at the head of the table, my mom at the end of the table, and the rest of us sat anywhere we liked. Niel sat beside me and a small smile grew on my face as he brought his hands together and closed his eyes as my father said grace.

“Thank you for the food,” they all mumbled simultaneously as they dug into their food and my mother rolled her eyes as she picked up her fork and stabbed the broccoli before bringing it to her mouth.
