“Oh no.” I raised my hands, unsure of what to say. It felt awkward and I wondered if I was the reason it was so awkward. “I needed to go out anyway.” I smiled, and he nodded as he pulled out of the parking space and we went on our way.

I looked at him from the corner of my eye and I was grateful for the light music that filled the silence in the car because I felt like I was hyperventilating. I was so nervous and I couldn’t find the words to apologize.

Just saying“I’m sorry”sounded fake and I really wanted it to be a heartfelt apology because I didn’t want him to stop caring for my well-being like he did, but how would I actually invite him to continue being himself?

“How do you feel about watching a movie?” he asked me as he pulled into the mall and I looked at him surprised.

“In a cinema?” I asked and he grinned, nodding. “Is that okay?”

I was concerned about his safety and privacy. It was ice hockey season and there were bound to be fans everywhere, didn’t he care?

“Don’t worry about it, Angel.” He smirked as he pulled on his baseball cap and pulled his hoodie over the cap, looking similar to the way he appeared to me after their first game. This kind of mysterious look suited him. If I didn’t know him I would automatically think he probably was in the army or he just really enjoyed working out.

He was really handsome.

“How do I look?” he asked as he turned to face me, and I smiled, pushing his cap a bit lower.

“Like a moody teenager,” I said as I unbuckled my belt and he flashed me his charming smile, all of his pearly teeth on display.

Fuck. This is not good for my health.

“Hmm, that would make you a pedo,” he commented and I gasped putting my hand on my chest as I stared at him. “But I would want you anyway. You’d be a hot sugar mommy.”

He exited the car before I could say anything and jogged over to my side. Opening my door, he helped me step out of his car and closed the door, stepping closer to me. My back hit the closed door and I looked around us, wondering why he suddenly came closer.

“So, are you going to spoil me today, Mommy?” he asked, giving me his boyish grin as he zipped up my jacket and slipped my stray hair behind my ears.

Nate really isn’t good for my health. I don’t think it’s okay for a heart to beat this way. It feels a lot faster and lower than it should.

“Y-you were the one who asked me out on a date,” I stuttered as I looked at him through my lashes and he smirked as he stepped back and raised his arms, shrugging.

“Yeah, I guess the sugar baby will take care of you today,” he said as he slipped his hands inside his jacket. “I hope I get a treat for my good behavior.”

“Nate!” I breathed out as I got the innuendo and he chuckled as he gestured with his head for us to walk into the mall. “You are crude!”

“In many ways than one, Mommy,” he winked and my eyes widened as I watched his form walk in front of me.

What the heck?

“I hope you’re okay with fantasy movies?” He raised the movie tickets and I read the title of the film, nodding in approval of his pick.

“Love them,” I said and he tilted his head.

“Heh?” he dragged as he paid for our snacks. “I really thought erotica romance was more of your thing.”

“When have I ever hinted at that!” I slapped his arm and he snickered as he gathered my hands and pressed them against his chest.

“I’m just teasing you. You’ve been really stiff since I picked you up,” he said and I looked into his eyes before smiling.

“Seeing how you keep rubbing my hands, I guess I’m not the only one that’sstiff.”My eyes looked down between us and he laughed as he let go of my hands, placing his hand on his chest.

“I’ve met my match!” He leaned in closer to my ear and whispered, “How did you know though?”

“Oh my gosh, Nate! Can we please just go watch the movie?” I pushed myself away from him and grabbed our snacks, hiding my face with the boxed popcorn.

I was only joking and yet here I was the one who was flushed in embarrassment.

We entered the theater and found our seats just in time as the movie was about to start.
